Root Custom Rom Install Question, need help

I messed up my phone and im trying to install a custom rom to see if it helps fix the problem. I am new to android and dont know how to install the rom using these steps..

1.) Download the .zip & make sure 4g is enabled.
2.) Extract the .zip to your external SD card in /clockworkmod/backup/ This should give you "/clockworkmod/backup/RevoltRom1.3"
3.) Boot to Clockwork, select "Backups/Restore", then "Advanced Restore". Select "RevoltRom1.1", then select "System".
4.) Once the restore finishes,wipe at least cache partition, and advanced/Wipe Dalvik-Cache. To have a fresh clean start you can wipe data also, but is not required.
5.) Reboot, and enjoy your new ROM!

Can someone explain these steps in detail for me please? I downloaded the zip to my computer, and after that I'm lost. please help, i would really appreciate it
