Root LeeDroid HD 3.3.3

I have just tried out LeeDroid 3.3.3 for the first time and quite like what im seeing :-) been using cm7 for 2 months now. loved it at first but more and more things go wrong so decided to try out another ROM. one question i have got.... with LeeDroid v3.3.3 are people finding the included kernel the best one for it cause i still have the 3.2.1 cfs kernel saved on my sdcard and accidently flashed that after the first boot so dont know if its worth starting over so i get the included bfs version??

also are many people experiencing problems with full sense 3.0? flashing this later as well.

cheers

CFS > BFS, so if you've CFS installed at the moment, keep with it. I've found battery better with CFS kernels and less stuttering when you switch to another application.

I've not bothered with any of the Sense 3.0 stuff as I've alternatives installed for pretty much everything Sense 3.0 offers, but I might have a mess around at some point.

Lee has coded for CFS as default for 3.3.3 as he gets cleaner logs for it. The only downside I am seeing to 3.3.3 is the battery drain when you leave 3G Data on. The Sense 3 patches are well worth looking at as combined with the flyin animations it just makes the phone appear and feel so slick. I use LauncherPro so didn't need the AIO with Rosie (Rosie is your homescreen setup) and have v4 non rosie installed.

If you do want to change KERNELS you do not need to start all over again. If you want to change just head into recovery and flash the other on top. You will however need to re calibrate your battery to get a proper feel for any difference that each makes to battery life.

ah bugger, just as i think im all over this rooting malarkey i find out something else i prob haven't done properly....calibrating the battery? am i right in saying that i fully charge it, go into recovery and clear battery stats then let it drain completely once then recharge and carry on as normal or is there another step?

cheers

Download current widget from the market, stick the widget on a home screen, charge it until it gets to 0mAh, reboot into clockwork, advanced -> Wipe battery stats, unplug, then reboot. Let it drain completely and your battery/phone should be calibrated.

cheers. noticed that leedroid doesnt have the option to adjust performance or am i missing something?

Nah, that's a Cyanogen thing.

If you want to tweak about with CPU Speed, you need SetCPU or No Frills CPU Control. What other tweaks etc are you looking for? There might be some apps on the market.

ah ok. got sense 3 running and all seems good but may try out the 'do it yourself' theme that you posted on here before, thats if i can figure out how to use it,

surprised how quick leedroid is running with sense 3 no lagging at all :-)

be nice if there was a g/3g button widget available because ive been told 3g and auto canrinse the battery. i'll see what the market can offer.

Just pull down the notification bar and use the quick settings tab at the bottom to change from 3G/2G and your brightness settings. ;)

ive only got mobile network in the list, not a g/3g tick box. can you add it in or just click on all settings at the bottom?

You can just click on all settings, I don't believe there's a way to add it, sorry.

You could install Extended Controls (it's about 60p I think), it has a 2/3G toggle. You could probably find some free ones on the market, but Extended Controls is more than worth it.

I'm guessing you've installed a Sense 3.0 pack and probably the AIO v5? If so go to SETTINGS>APPLICATIONS>MANAGE APPLICATIONS>HTC SENSE>CLEAR DATA making sure its the HTC Sense with the clock as the icon. That should sort the squashed look. :D

hmm done that and it still the same ... might do a re flash in a few days just to make sure ...

Personally I never saw the squashed issue when I trialled the full AIO v5 version of Sense 3.0 however if that doesn't fix it the only explanation I can give you at the moment is the fact that the Sense add-ons are taken from a scaled port and not from a direct equivalent.

v6 is however expected to resolve these issues and its known that Lee is working on this. However this week he has had various different real world concerns to contend with as well as losing net access last week. Oh and he picked up the EVO 3D which he is getting to grips with.

For me though the AIO isn't an issue and I use the v4 non rosie release as I use Launcher Pro. :D If the whole Sense 3.0 thing is your bag and is a deal breaker then may I suggest Virtuous Unity if the whole full wipe and reflash doesn't sort it?

found out its the rosie causing the "squashed" issues i can deal with it just make me double take for a bit looking at it

Hi I find that the htc locations application cannot update! thus rendering it useless.. does anyone have 3.3.1 or 3.3.2? i cant find the download for it anymore =[. I get better battery life with leedroid HD compared to ARHD

Well blow me that does surprise me. For I was once all about LeeDrOiD and he could do no wrong but having flopped ARHD on my phone I'd never go back. So fast, so smooth and uber battery life. I was lucky to get a day at a push now at a push I manage 2 days lol Just goes to show how subjective battery life is. ARHD is Sense 3.0 as standard and you only get that by patching 3.3.3 have you tried 4.0.0?

I have a spare battery which I use if i'm doing some intensive that day or away from my charger that night.

How often should the calibration be done, every time a battery is swapped?
Or just from time to time, no matter what battery installed?

Thanks
