2.2.1 cannot be currently rooted. You have to downgrade to 2.2. People are working on it but right now, it's not possible. See the link just above this for 2.2 downgrade options.
 
Alright guys, I've followed the procedure for deleting apps with Root Explorer (yes, I am rooted and did mount it as R/W). I successfully removed several MetroPCS crapware programs, but even after deleting the right files, Loopt, MobileBanking, and MocoSpace are still on my phone and somehow still work! I'm rather frustrated with this. Does anyone know why this is happening?

EDIT:
Also, does anyone know what happens if we remove the MetroPCS Easy WiFi app? Like how we connect to wifi networks then? Because for some reason the app doesnt stay connected to my network.
 
Did you reboot your phone? You can remove the Easy Wifi app but it is still useful for finding 500,000 free hotspots.
 
ok i searched for z4root on my metro lg optumis droid and it dosent show up or exsist i NEED to get ride of this bingo app and other ones there killing my battery pleasssse Help i dont know alot about phones,.

Your problem may be your wi-fi is disconnecting every time the phone goes into standby (screenn goes dark). Then it tries to reconnect when you use your phone a minute later.

You don't want that, but it's the default setting. Go into wi-fi advanced settings and choose "never" for sleep.

I am pretty sure I am doing all the steps correctly. I have also watched several videos, read every post carefully.

I downloaded z4root 1.3.0 and whenever I run it it either gets stuck on aquiring root shell or the exploiting thing before that.

Some people said it takes a very long time sometimes for the root go go through, but I think 7 hours is too long.

I hard reset my phone , took the battery out etc. I also did a factory reset but I noticed that didn't seem to work either.

Any help would be great as I have tried every resource out there that you people have provided me.

What version does your phone has 2.2 or 2.2.1???

** Warning before trying this method, somehow phone loses the service after the flashing. But after I installed su and busybox my phone could connect. I`m not sure if it will hapen on any other phone. But the method works for rooting.**

Well I have to tell you that I juts rooted my 2.2.1 phone like an hour ago. I made a post of how I did it but the files are not online so will upload then right now.

First Install LGNPST from this post http://androidforums.com/lg-optimus-m/273406-new-lgnpst-lab-1-2-thread-now-hd-video.html

After everything is installed and the program too download these (they are the ones that were removed) MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Then extract everything from the zip file that you just download to a specific location (for example your C drive)

Open up LGNPST and make sure that is set to provision and below provision set to Upgrade. For the bin file in LGNPST select the one from the zip called MS690ZV4_26-root.bin, for the scr select the one from Andyo70 package called MS690ZV3_36.scr and fro the prl select the one from my zip called 3017nam1.prl

After all the files are select click start (Is going to ask you for your SPC code, you can get from Andyo70 file using CDMA Workshop. Just see the video) Enter your SPC and let the program do the process.

The phone will restart when reach 43% but do not disconnect or touch phone until the process is 100% complete.

If everything went well your phone now is on the lock screen, now you should install ADB wich is needed to copy the root files to the phone.
Go to Android SDK | Android Developers and download the one that ends .zip depending your OS. Unpack the zip file to the root of your C drive and run SDkmanager.exe. Is not necessary to download anything that the program says at startup just download Android SDk platform tools. After open CMD adn navigate to where ABD was installed.

Follow instructions on this page How to Use Android ADB Command Line Tool | All About Web & Mobile Application Development to copy su and busybox from my download to /data/local/tmp/. Also follow the instructions to install Superuser.apk from my zip using ADB.

After that reset your phone and you should be root. To verify rooting download Terminal Emulator from Jack Pal. Then type on terminal su if you get "#" you are successfully rooted.

Hey guys sorry for this question I know it have nothing to do with this blog but since a week ago I cannot use my easy-tether any more it coming a messaging saying that the USB connection is just for file transfer and not for tethering, do any one have any fix for that I don’t have internet connection on my work and I need to do my personal stuff and to study for I can get graduated any help or idea please
 
Ok all...I am a complete nood to android. I emailed z4root to myself and installed it. ran it and at the acquiring shell portion of the running it sat for a few secs and than went back to my home screen. Now what is my next move in this root since I am not sure if it is done or not??



NVM: I just saw that I am running version 2.2.1
I guess I need to make some changes first

ok ive tried universal androot and z4root neither have worked on my optimus. i have been reading and looking every where to be able to root my phone with no luck. any suggestions?
 
I did some google research on rooting the lg optimus m for 10 minutes and attempted it got it first try... found an easy tutorial video with the z4root and root explorer app free link downloads.

I guess you have not heard. The Gingerbreak app will root the Optimus M with 2.2.1 with one click. There is now no need for more complicated methods.

As far as I know, there are no Optimus M's running 2.2.2 but it would probably work anyway.
 
Awesome, everything worked with no problems.....but now what? What else can I do to further tweak it? I read of all kinds of advantages to rooting but it seems it is running short of my expectations.
 
i have the 2.2.2 frg83g optimus m update
i thought that it would fix the netflix streaming bug(it didnt)

I need serious help, i cannot find a way to root my device!!

i tryed gignerbreak, z4root, super one click v1.7- v2.0 betta

nothing works:(

any help would be apriciated

you need to check which version of android you have on your phone.
Only version 2.2 will work with z4root.

2.2.1 gingerbreak will work, and version 2.2.2 nothing works.
