It's 3pm.. Do you know where your Droid charger is?

Autosync can sync FaceBook, Gmail, Google Calendar, and Corporate Email. Turning it off means you won't get notifications for anything unless you refresh it (such as going into gmail, then menu->refresh)...but it will also reduce your battery usage slightly. To be honest, I think it drains around 10% of the battery a day.

Thanks for the info. I like receiving my emails so I will keep autosync on. Its a shame it drains so much battery. I dont use facebook or anything like that, so its disappointing the battery life I get.

You pick what you want to sync, if you dont have a Facebook account associated with your phone it wont even sync this application.

I use mine all day long, any kind of external e-mail or photo or video or social site is blocked at my work so I;m using my phone for all that (i'm salary and work all kinds of extra evening and weekend hours so its ok to take 5 at work). I charge when i get home from work and top it off before i leave for work using the USB port on m netbook as I lost my charging plug.

GET A NEW BATTERY!
I was having horrible battery life, tried just about everything you guys have been trying. Turning off gps, screen brightness turned all the way down, killing tasks, even did a factory reset, all with no significant effect. I was getting 6-8 hours of minimal usage. I got so tired of it that I went and demanded a new battery. After a couple of days of charging cycles on this new battery I can now go 24+ hours, all with auto brightness and gps on all day!! There was no way my previous battery could handle this.

Bluetooth, GPS and WiFi on? It will drain that fast yeah. Keep them disabled unless you're actively using them. With just sync and the brightness down a notch I can make it 7am to 11pm and still have 30-50% battery left.

The only app I've paid for so far is the PowerManager. Lets me set up profile for what to do when you're plugged in to AC/USB, battery power, or the battery falls below whatever level. I have it set to only auto put on wifi when on any power source. Bluetooth as well so if i'm home or in the car it's on. Then I manually activate it if I need it any other time. GPS will SUCK the battery life and so does wifi.

Grecho: thanks for the info.

I believe I just dramatically increased my battery life as of yesterday. I'm at 80% at noon, whereas I'd normally be around 60%. I was using the native email app for my yahoo and gmail accounts. I think it was checking my mail every 15 mins. With all the problems with receiving yahoo email on the droid, I decided to have my yahoo emails forwarded to my gmail account. I then set up my email using the gmail app. Ignorantly, I left the native email app active with 2 email accounts, even after I set up the gmail app on my phone. Well, after removing my accounts from the email app, my battery life has definitely improved. I think people should explore the option of having their yahoo email forwarded to gmail, then using the gmail app to improve battery life.

Yeah it's prob time to just convert your Yahoo account over to Gmail. Set aside an hour or two and catalog all the emails/registrations you have. Go and change them on the accounts/sites and you'll be set. There's also tutorials you can Google on how to export all your Yahoo Mail and port it over to Gmail.
