Gmail password error Huawei Ascend! Please Help Me!!

Hello friends! Boy do I have an issue today! I recently was online on my home pc, adding a adsense account and was asked to change my password to something more difficult. So I did, to my amazement, I tried several hours later to get into my Gmail account from my Android. It said my password was incorrect or my account had changed. Of course, then I tried my old password, didn't work:confused:. Turned off and on the phone and tried again, didn't work. Found some things here online on how to unlock the stupid captcha, didn't work:confused:. What do I do!!! I tried to change my password back to my old one online, but it will not allow me to, says it's too "weak":confused:. So what the heck do I do now??? I tried deleting my account on the phone and adding again, didn't work!!!!! I am baffled!! I can't believe that Google has not fixed this error!! I seem not to be the only one with this issue, most other Androids have a lot of threads on this, but I have tried their solutions that everyone said worked. Didn't on my Huawei Ascend!! Please help!! By the way, I have Cricket. :confused:

You need to send an e mail to Google and if you remember the answers to the security questions they asked you when you set up your account, they should let you change the password to whatever. If that doesn't work, all I know to do is a factory data reset (in the settings under privacy) and set up a new google account. Unfortunately, that means you will lose everything that's on your phone except what's on the sd card. You can also back up your contacts to the sd card if you have to do this. Good luck. Hopefully Google will help you out.
 
I did the same thing. I can't believe Android makes it basically impossible to change your Google account password. In the end, I found it easier to reflash my phone.
 
For future reference-

Thats why you have a separate email account attached to your GMail as a back up. I forgot my password when I flashed my ROM because I never use the password because I let my computer remember it so I dont have to ever type it in and I selected "forgot my password" and it sends a link to my "dummy back up" email and it lets me change it with out ever having to remember my old password. Saves a lot of hassle when you cant remember your password and are force to make a new account and rebuild all your contacts and what not.
 
Well, I never "forgot" my password, just changed it when I was setting up my adsense account. But after I did that, to log into my Gmail account on my phone what the issue, I put the right password, but my phone didn't recognize it. Somehow Google doesn't update on Android or something. I put my old password and it didn't want that one either. I know the problem is with Google, and I am not going to do a factory reset, it took me long enought to get the courage to Root my phone!!! Hopefully someone on here can help!!

If you get Titanium Backup, and run a complete backup of all apps, you can save the Titanium Backup folder found in your sdcard's root directory as well as any music, pics, etc. to your computer, flash your phone back to stock, root it again, download Titanium Backup and Superuser from market, move the Titanium Backup folder and media back to your sdcard, then restore all your apps along with their data, it will let you put in your Google account with a new password. And as long as you synced contacts with your Google account, the only things you'll have to redo are phone settings and widgets, mostly.
Yes, it's a pain, but the only alternative I know of is to let a service rep do it for you, and I'm not sure how to unroot, if you can at all.

edit: BTW, did you try creating another Gmail account, adding that account to your phone, deleting your original account, maybe rebooting, then adding your original account with the new password and deleting the new account?

backup all your apps with titu and backup your contacts to sdcard, and give hard reset a try and you can always restore everything back once you finish doing a hard reset.
 
I thought I'd change my password again to re-familiarize myself with exactly what happens. I turned off my phone, changed my Google password, and turned my phone back on. I saw the little error triangle in my status bar, so pulled it down, and tapped the error message. A window popped up saying it didn't recognize my password. It had an input area in the same window to enter my password. I put in the new one, and all was well.
 
I thought I'd change my password again to re-familiarize myself with exactly what happens. I turned off my phone, changed my Google password, and turned my phone back on. It had an input area in the same window to enter my password. I put in the new one, and all was well.

Wow, Lucky you, it sounds so easy, but I've done that too, and it doesn't work, gets stuck in a loop of captcha and wrong password error message.

Captcha? Are you talking about the phone? I've never seen captcha on the Ascend anywhere. You're not trying to do this stuff in your phone's browser, are you?

Yes, on my phone, when I click on the "market" icon, it asks for my password, when I enter the correct one, it ways it's wrong, and sometimes asks me for a correct captcha answer. But it's all good now, somehow, it fixed itself, I tried to log on today, and low and behold, it worked!! Yay!! Happy now!
