If you want root, just root and flash the rooted form of the update.

I would rather wait for the OTA. I have my reasons. :p Call me a purist, if you will.

When you unrooted did you flash the s-on file separately? If not, you may still be s-off. But to answer your question, no you cant just run unrevoked forever because you need a custom recovery to load it which means you need root.

I went back using the ruu. :) So I know I'm S-on.

Edit: I take that back, stock recovery says I am indeed S-off. Interesting lol. That means I have been for a very long time. I wasn't aware the RUU doesn't reverse that.

The RUU alone will not turn security back on. Before you run the RUU, you need to flash a special s-on zip provided by Unrevoked. If you did not do that, you are likely still s-off. One quick way to check, goto hboot and look at the security status.

Yup, just had done that lol. Okay...so I'm good to go. Thanks for answering my question. :D

Which RUU did you use and how is it?

I got my update about an hour ago. I went 'yes' to download it, and I was informed I had no connection(which I did because I always have 4 bars in that spot, but once I went to update it went to 0 bars) After that it has disappeared, and I see no way of updating unless I root...will it get pushed to me again?

Yes. And that should put the "OMG, they must have pulled the update!" posts, for about 6 hours. Assuming people actually read this.

posts deleted with no message explaining why?
Yes that is correct:)
I know the rules of the sandbox, I just don't like them.
And no one said you needed to, but you DID agree to them when signing up here
Hey! I liked your rant!
You would:rolleyes:

To All:

I consider myself pretty lenient and allow all kinds of OT stuff in here. Stuff about RUU and rooting and update.zip etc etc etc... when it gets to be an entire page worth yes i will delete or move. Sometimes I might explain... If you want an explanation about why a post got deleted or ANYTHING else please PM me. I will attempt to answer any and all questions that I can. Or you can pm the Admin, Phases.

I will continue to use my best judgement managing this thread but feel free to take an issue to any other mod or phases, its as easy as a PM or just report your own post and explain your thinking in report. All mods/admins see EVERY report and will discuss it.

All that said, posts were deleted cause they were borderline 'grammar nazi' type posts... while VERY mild really 6 or 7 posts about someones mistake is un needed, will be deleted (everytime), and against the sites rules/guidelines, which everyone agreed to when signing up.

No one is in trouble here, posts get deleted ALL the time, even mine (happened just today).

Thank you and have a nice day

Yes I did and this is why I tend to follow the rules ... it's also why I hardly ever participate here and gave up on becoming part of the "community". I show up when I have questions. This seems to work for me. I still find it odd that the mods here would choose to be so active but that's their prerogative.

FYI: I would say that you're a really good mod here but you used an eye roll on me in your last post and hurt my feelings :(

With all the instructions available to manually install the OTA update now, why is anyone still waiting or hitting their Check for Update button??

Not understanding the frustration of those "waiting". Hope this helps get everyone going so we can all be on the same page.

For those of you that had a "low space issue" it's been explained pretty well how to work around that, and how to move your apps. The only "fix" that VZW could possibly provide is to delete your offending app completely, and explain to you how to move them yourself.

I've been skipping over those posts. Is the manual process from Verizon or are they only supporting the OTA?

Has anyone had this happen to them? how long after did you get re-pushed update? Just spoke to Verizon+Htc to no avail, Verizon swears it is on my phone but it is not

So we have 1 person confirmed they got GBread today but it didn't go through so we still can't confirm if this is the new update or the old Sprint one.

Isn't it weird not many got it today or is that because it's Mon. Did people last Mon get it?

Last Monday was a holiday, but Tues a bunch got it last week

Oh that's right, maybe tomorrow will be a better judge of this starting to roll out again.

I remember when I got Froyo 2.2 and then people were complaining about all kinds of problems that it was quite awhile for another update came out to fix the battery problems of charging. I was one of the people that contacted Verizon and HTC, my post is somewhere on this forum. I had Verizon first on the phone saying there was no info of people having problems with the battery dying when you used google maps even with the charger in, yet once I had Froyo my battery would not hold a charge w/ g maps and the verizon car charger. So they put me on hold and did a 3 way call w/ HTC who confirmed there was a problem and an update was coming, Verizon rep was suprised and offered me an extended battery free, so I said yeah, then the update came much later and it did fix the problem. I think the problems people are having now w/ G Bread is not as bad as before w/ 2.2

Definitely not. The evo/sprint build.prop error is trivial (albeit idiotic), and honestly is almost a non-issue. The SD card apps problem is probably more serious than any of the common bugs with froyo, however it can be completely resolved by the user (Verizon should change the instructions to tell people to move the apps back to the phone in prep for the update).

I believe after the they get through the OTA window, they unlock the server so any phone that hasn't been updated yet can get it.
You could try the date trick (I know it involves advancing the date in the settings>date & time menu, but beyond that I don't know exactly what you do).

I don't think the update file is on the web yet (If it is, somebody please correct me). Until that shows up (assuming you don't want to root), you're basically at the whim of Verizon. Whenever they decide to open up the update again for you, you'll get it.

I have read 1-2 cases where people have flashed the file Todd uploaded to XDA. Not sure if it actually works or not, haven't tried.

xda-developers - View Single Post - 4.06.605.3 update is hitting phones as we type!

What's the worst that could happen?
