Samsung Note - The PERFECT Phone??

Apple introduced the Tablet which has been very successful and copied by others. However, Tablets are still a long way from replacing Laptops so if you can only afford one device then it has to be the Laptop.

The smart phone cannot replace the Laptop either but it has the big advantage of being able to be taken everywhere without the need for a carrying bag. Also, the trend of increasing screen sizes on smart phones like the Galaxy Note are threatening to reduce the importance of Tablets.

So if you can only afford two devices then the Laptop and large smart phone like the Galaxy Note are the best combination.

omgz I want this so much. Would be nice if it had lots of flash stoage too, but nobody is making devices with that yet.

Good to see that vid, I hadn't realised it was a bit bigger than the S2, and a slightly faster processor. But the stylus (tho it's got a sort of 'right click' facility) is still a bit 'blunt' - so I don't see the 'wow' factor over the S2 with some of the 'draw' apps.
And storage is sorted with a micro SD, innit?

Actually rather fine-tipped stylus.

And the fact it's pressure sensitive, and approximately one hojillion times more precise than a capacitive digitiser, combined with a gigantic 5.3" display...

You're right, no compelling reason to use it over a SII for drawing/writing.

I would not call it perfect. It misses a few things to call it perfect.
For me perfect would mean
1)Camera Capability and controls along the line of the Samsung W880 (12mpx, xenonx flash, dedicated camera like buttons and controls) - 1080p recording capability at 120fps
2)Thicker body, all out titanium alloy shell, bigger battery
3)5.5 or 6 inch display with 1080p resolution (you can play the recorded 1080p videos pixel by pixel)
4)Dual microsd cards
5)Qwerty keyboard.
Her there is a problem. WHen a phone doesnt have keyboard it is made from one solid piece , wich is always better, unless the keyboard is like in a nokia e61. So that is the advantage of the NOTE. Its made from one solid piece.
With a keyboard, one would have to make it a slider, and sliding mechanism, no matter how good, always get used and bad,

The best thing to do, even if it will make the device a bit longer, would be to add half a keyboard on each side. That would make for a confortable typing experience. Making the device thus bigger, you would have plenty room for the camera module and controls, and for the battery also.

That would make the gagdet a bit bulkier than the current note. Thicker, heavier, and a little bit bigger.
But it would totaly worth the pain creating it. It would be uniq, and every freak out there will get it. Trust me on that.

I doubt I would want to use that even if it was free.

Please don't quit your day job.. Your revisions below would ruin the phone. No offense.

Some like slimmer phones, some like them to be a bit thicker.
Personally i do not see what the fuss is about by making them slimmer and slimmer, and i would like my phones to be thicker and sturdier.
I would say at most 2cm thick and i would have no problem using it.

And even if you like the phones slimmer, i am sure there are ppl out there who think like i do. And lets face it, if you are to compared identical phones, except their thickness, the thicker one fits more, and can have more then the slimmer one (be it battery, components, etc)

To me, slim means stupid,, slim is for girls who dont care about features, only look, if you want slim, please go buy a motorola razor.
Even so, i think i could not tolerate mup to 2.5mm of thickness.

Lets see, i had these phones, and thicknes NEVER bodered me.
Nokia e90:20mm
Nokia n900:18mm
E61:14mm
6630:21mm
Motorola A925:24mm

I understand your logic in theory.. However, the masses don't agree with you. People, for whatever reason want slim, so the handset makers will provide to them. They build what the people want..

So you saying slim gadgets are for girls..hmm
OK! I'm off to sell My Plasma and go to the dollar store to get the TUBE (tv)!!
I'm a MAN!! ;)

Ok now seriously, the "fuss" with gadgets going slimmer is the advancement of technology!!!!! :D

Thats surprising is'nt it!!

Now your being smart ass, witht he Tube example.

I agree new technology makes slimmer gadgets possible.
I'm just saying, if you can make it slimmer, that means, that by keeping the 'normal' thickness you could squize more in the same gadget.

Whearas what we are seeing today is a battle, a cock battle if i may, to show off who has the slimmest possible phone. And thats not good either.

I would generally like a thicker phone too BUT imagine reading something when you are lying down holding the phone up to read. You don't want something too heavy.

As far as a keyboard, I have a ThinkOutside the Box Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard that I can keep in my attach

If, while at the tennis courts or playing golf, I receive a long email that requires a long answer, then both having that attached keyboard can be a problem but how often is that gonna happen? Plus I can keep the folding keyboard in my tennis bag or golf bag. That is a much better alternative than making the phone larger.

You sir live quite a luxurious life.
