Root your phone and go install the ROM at XDA if you truly want GB that bad. It is a very simple process and then you do not have to worry about what Verizon does anymore. But honestly I have been running the ROM of GB from XDA for some time now. I am not a power user of my phone, but know it very well. There really is not much difference between Froyo and GB IMHO..! For what I do with my phone, I notice a bit of difference in the Gmail App and the Explorer. I have noticed no difference in battery life, no real difference in overall performance and I also have flashed the Radio from the last release. I have noticed no difference in reception. I know it's that feeling you get that you are getting the update and you feel like you're phone is new again. You get the same feeling when you flash a ROM and you start it up for the first time...:D

Then what is the big deal about this gingerbread update anyway? why would verizon even bother giving us this update? It seems like it was talked up too much.

Verizon hasn't talked it up. It has a few nice things but nothing earth shattering. They gave it to us so we know they will support phones.

IMHO... Nothing...Verizon did give the update which means they are supporting the phone a bit longer, but I don't think after this last update you will see anything else. It will go EOL after this last update.

Where can I find a fix for the Bluetooth bug? When I'm using it and get a text it will disconnect the Bluetooth. Running one of the xda roms.

I'm guessing "When I'm using it and get a text it will disconnect the Bluetooth"

Correct! I'm using the latest OTA from XDA. It's annoying since I drive for a living and need to use it.

Also, If there is a fix for the gps location bug that pops up everytime you restart your phone a link would be nice. Thank you.

I have the update, same general probs as many others, missing apps , low memory warning, icons with no linked apps, etc.

If in fact vzw has halted the update, if/when it resumes with added patches will I receive another ota ? Such as 2.3.4.1 ?

Not surprising... there's no response by any VZW people on the Verizon community board either... they're quick to answer other, general questions (usually with the typical "you need to factory reset" reply...)

Well, at least I know I am not crazy, since I have the bluetooth-dropping-when-a-text-arrives issue, as well as continual low memory warnings. All movable apps are on the SD and Twitter/Facebook feeds are cleared every few hours and yet the icon continually reappears. Any fix for this, other than wait for OTA GB Rev 1? My phone is not rooted and I would rather not mess with rooting it now. Does the address book size or #/texts on the phone enter into the Low Memory notice? Thanks for your help!

Did you move the apps before you updated, or after? If they were on there before I'd move them back to the phone and back to the sd card. There is a big thread on the low on space bug in the support subsection.

Based on the forum, I moved everything to the phone, then took the OTA update, then moved everything back. I will try this and see if it works. Thanks (sorry I missed the other thread)

Agreed!

Script:
1. Say Hello to Customer
2. Listen to Customer's issue.
3. Reply: "Do a factory reset"
4. Thank you for calling Verizon

:D

I'm the IT guy around here at work and here is my script -

1. Hey my blah blah isn't working!
2. Did you turn the computer off and back on yet?
3. No.
4. Go do that then see if it works.
5. 3 Minutes later - Hey it's fine now.
6. I'm a genius! ;)

If you moved them to the sd card after the update, it won't help.
