Ok well for those that do not want to wait for the update and either cannot use the update.zip or recocovery method the ruu.exe has been posted on xda.

[ROM]RUU_Incredible_C_Gingerbread_S_VERIZON_WWE_4.06.60 5.3_Radio_2.15.10.07.07 - xda-developers

Be warned that this will wipe your phone clean.

Alternatively, I extracted the rom.zip out of the RUU for those who prefer to flash the PB31IMG via the SD card. Remember it has to be formatted to FAT32.

I'm waiting with interest to see what all edits were made.

So, you just add that file, exactly as it is named, to the root of your SD card and go through hboot?

Yeah but hang tight, I figured somebody would have ran it from the xda thread by now but no feedback so far. I'll load it to my phone and be the canary in the coal mine.

I'm VERY sure of the source but until we get one verified flash, I'd rather keep everyone else's device safe and risk my own. Had to goto work so give me some time to get everything on the card.

If this is the same file that you linked several pages ago, that can be loaded via hboot, then i can say that i am running GB that way, and it is doing ok. My OTA wouldnot install, so i did it this way, and worked great!

I did, however, only rename it to update I have file extensions hidden on my desktop, so if i were to rename it to update.zip, it would actually have been update.zip.zip, which as we all know, won't work.

This is a different ballgame guys. This is the full system image, aka the RUU. It's the full monty rather than an update of your current system. I'm in the process of loading now. Will report back soon. Even after all the flashing I've put this ol girl through, I still get slightly shaky. :D

I just downloaded the dougpiston RUU then I started up my phone in recovery. I got a triangle with an exclamation point and my phone froze. I am guessing that I skipped a step or two. Any suggestions for a newb?

I got out of it and was able to boot my phone back up btw

There's so many links for different files and file versions sprawled across 59 pages! :( Is there any where the mod can make a sticky for what's considered the latest or most stable ROM that us rooted but knows as root savvy users can get? :-D

I know this post annoyed superusers, while I am serious, I'm trying to be humorous, so just laugh! :)

That was a bit of a shock to me since I've done it thru hboot many times and been left with nothing but Verizon bloatware. In any event, the glitches were there because I was running a fixed Rom prior to that. Another poster noticed the same thing if you read the thread further.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263269&page=4 I think that's what they are talking about- sorry if I'm wrong. If the glitches still exist I'll pass

Just hooked up to the PC and used the .exe and all my apps were still on there. I think it's just not set up to wipe the phone before it installs.

No friggen way, somethings effed up. I knew it didn't make any diff if it was ruu or hboot method. Something's amiss, both methods should wipe the phone to stock bloatware only. Now there's 2 of us that found the same thing using both methods. Head scratcher.

Well more and more I'm thinking the update has been pulled. Between not getting it (and I'm certainly not alone), and pretty much Verizon's silence and non-responses, it's pretty much looking that way.

And if you didn't get it, no, no update for me yet....

So, now the big question...should I use the RUU or not??? It has all the bugs that the OTA has and we assume has been pulled to fix but it appears this RUU may not wipe apps.

Decisions...decisions!!!

This is just my unofficial opinion...At this point I wouldn't flash a single thing unless you are s-off in which case I'd flash a stock-like rom and be done with it. I recommend this to everyone. Although phones aren't getting borked, I am seeing things happen that defy logic from what I've known in the past particularly when it comes to the RUU. I'm thinking it either has something to do with the very nature of Gingerbread itself and I'm just not used to it yet or there's screwups in all these versions that affect the way apps are managed and/or the way partitions are wiped.

That said, I'm just some random dude on the interwebs though so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Well, the s-off is not a big deal to me since I am not rooted and never really saw the need personally to root. I know there are advantages to it but just never interested me.

So, I guess I am just going to wait to see if the OTA starts up again. I can always go back to the ruu.exe if I never get the OTA or if the OTA is being corrected and I don't get that either I can find an ruu.exe on the net.
