Dag nab it! I was really hoping all the way home that I would check out the forum and find tons of people reporting pricing and first impressions

well, we still have tomorrow and tuesday as "strongly" supported release dates too
the next would be the 25th as someone said their AT&T buddy had a meeting last night about next Saturday
Why would they WAIT for the iPhone? That makes absolutely no sense at all. The iPhone would bury it if it came out at the same time. When the iPhone is released it's like the 4th coming of BeJeezus (especially this one with allegedly all US carriers included) and every press release is about how there is a 2 mile long line to get the iPhone at every available location it is available. No one cares about anything else for 4 weeks after the Apple Gods give the world their newest baby.
"IMO" They would stall cause AT&T has built their empire around Apple. It's all about who is paying their bills.
"IMO" totally absurd. That's just another tin-foil hat conspiracy theory. First off they are no longer the exclusive seller of the iPhone so obviously Apple back-doored them on that. When they were exclusive, I would somewhat agree but since the day VZ got the iPhone AT&T has been dropping Android devices like crazy and if that were the case they wouldn't release anything between now and "I-Day" The iPhone is just as bad as this device because no one knows and everyone guesses when it's coming out.
They will release it when they are ready and have never alluded to any date so they never misled anyone. Every date you read online is nothing but rumor and BS. Everyone knows someone who knows something. Eventually someone will have to be right but not because they know anything but because they just guessed the right date.
Like I said it is my opinion. And yes they did mislead people by not squashing the rumors about the fake release date. If you were about to sell a great product and someone was posting lies wouldn't you want people to know the truth? How hard would it have been for them to tell people that it is a lie and we don't know when it will release. That's just bad PR! This GS2 is pretty much the only real competition that iphone has to deal with. What other phone on the market today compares to the i phone?
I was in the mall today and decided to stop into the AT&T store to check out the Thrill. The guy asked me if I needed help. Said nope, I'm waiting for the Samsung Galaxy SII. He smiled and said 3D right? lol. I said no, it's just supposed to be a solid phone but no one knows when the hell AT&T will release it. He said they have so many phones releasing these days that they don't find out until a few days before. As clueless as this kid was that's the only thing he said that wasn't completely stupid. No one has any freakin idea and we'll all find out at the same time a couple days before (hopefully), whenever that may be.
I then went into the Sprint store to check out the Epic and they didn't even have the phone on. starting to feel like no one cares about this phone but us. It did feel pretty solid though but a bit too big for my taste.

I understand "it's your opinion" but this is "my opinion." Why should they be expected to "squash rumors" generated by the public and by blogs which have absolutely no "real" information taken from any real sources other than speculation? If they had to do that they would spend 24hrs a day reading every forum and every website in the world.
If ATT had said that it would be released on "xx" date that would be another story. They said it was "coming soon" and it will be out when they are ready. There is nothing else they need to do.
As for the iPhone, like it or not, NO PHONE is competition to the iPhone. The iPhone will sell more phones in 1 day than any other SINGLE device will sell in it's entire lifespan. Right or wrong, like it or not, the iPhone is an institution not simply a device and is backed by the most incredible marketing geniuses. All these "iPhone killer" tags are generated by the press or the other manufacturers just for publicity.
Ask 1000 people who are not phone geeks like me and you and who don't frequent boards like this what a Samsung Galaxy (whatever number), or Infuse, or LG Thrill is and ask the same 1000 people what an iPhone is and you will understand.
I (my family included) have had all the iPhones and 5 different Android devices and while I don't care for the iPhone it is very easy to understand why it is the single most popular phone in existence. Sure "ANDROID" is close to outselling or has outsold the iPhone in numbers not because it is better but because there are hundreds of Android devices across dozens of providers ranging in price from free to $200 and only ONE iPhone. There is the iPhone and there is everything else.
Sure, everyone who wants a GSII should be disappointed it isn't out yet but AT&T (and what about T-Mobile?) has done nothing to create this, it is the blogs who want readers, and everyone who posts who allegedly "knows someone who knows someone who knows something" that should be blamed for creating false expectations.
There are a lot of folks who simply need to get a life (including myself) rather than obsess over a silly cell phone and what minute it will be out. It will be out when they release it and if people don't like it they have the option to shop elsewhere and you can be sure AT&T (or T-Mo) won't miss them a bit because most people don't really care.

You are right about that! I was the only one at the AT&T store when they opened today.

Ha! For the price I am paying AT&T they should walk the damn phone to my doorstep personally! I don't think keeping me informed on when the phone is coming out is asking too much.

AT&T will not squash rumors about a phone's release date, simply because If they did, it will only leave a couple (if not 1) plausible release date. The dealer of 3 card monte is not gonna rule out another card for you.
And why would they anyways, not knowing the truth is obviously making the majority of us still wait

And if u want delve even further into ur 3 Card Monty theory, those "sidewalk shysters" (sorry, 50's baby here...lol) actually have ppl working FOR them under the guise of being "a player" just to throw suspicion off of them. Wouldn't surprise me if AT&T "throws a few fake rumors and dates out there" just to get things heated up...lol
