Status indicators

There are those little status indicators at the very top. Is there a way of customizing which ones show up or removing specific ones altogether?

Welcome to Android Forums kinosh,

first off which part of the status bar icons show up? most of those icons are there for a reason, to alert you of emails, text messages, g+ messages, missed calls etc etc.

so please clarify which ones you are referring to.

I would like to get rid of the GPS indicator. I think it's the two circles with the 4 lines extending out. I don't need to know when my phone is being pinged. Drives me crazy!

This is good, because when you have it enabled, 3rd party apps can share your location without your knowledge. If you really don't want it up there, turn off the GPS when not needed. As for other indicators, some you can turn off such as Advanced Task Killer and most texting apps allow you to choose one.

in all honesty i leave my GPS on at all times, 1 because i have lookout installed on it, and if its missing i can locate it using GPS, thats where i value from it, granted i dont leave my phone unattended very much, but things can happen and you get distracted and forget about it.

if you want to turn GPS off you can easily do that in the settings menu, under location.

the only way you can really do that, is to edit the framework or use ninjamorph and replace the GPS indicator screen with a transparent image at about the same size, i dont know why you would want to do that though, it should only come on whenever you are using something that uses gps

A new Status Indicator showed up on by Droid 3 - it is on the right side between the Battery Indicator Icon and the Time. It is a Square Box with a Check Mark in it. I searched online and could not find it. Anyone know?

You have an alarm set in the Alarm & Timer app.
