trying to get my battery life under control

Anyone find any good and useful ways of keeping battery life without shutting internet capabilities off?

I might get hated on for this, but I have found if I turn off 4g and just turn it on in case I need it I get TONS more battery life. But Around here best I generally get is two bars of 4G. With only 3g turned on I am at 50% battery after 12 hours, which is plenty for me, and this is on STOCK battery. I ordered my extended and it is on its way so we will see how that one fairs.

i gave up on trying to maximize battery life. I have two extended batteries and two stock batteries with a charging dock lol! Nothing will stop me from using 4GLTE, twitter, email, and Netflix all day!!! Its a smart phone, you have to pay to play. Its like giving someone 700hp in a car and telling them to go easy on the gas...no thanks.

4G off
wifi off when not using it (constantly scans)
turn down brightness
sync emails about every two hours rather then 30min - 1hr
manually shutting down unwanted running apps

Push email instead of pop or imap. turn down anything that polls the net like weather Latitude, or FB. Switch to nighttime saver or custom. turn off all the vibration functions and unnecessary clicks.
