Service Provider not displayed

My Wife has just taken delivery of a nice, sparkling, brand new Samsung Galaxy S2, and I am envious, to say the least! I will be following suit soon.

On all our previous mobile phones, and my current iPhone 4, the current Service Provider name has always been displayed at the top of the screen, along with the usual signal strength, etc.

On my Wife's GS2 the Service Provider name (in our case LUXGSM) is not displayed, and when we cross over the border into Germany, France or Belgium we cannot see who the new, temporary Service Provider is.

Is this an error, or is there a setting to display the Provider?

Hello and welcome to Android Forums!

Place your finger at the top of the screen and drag it down to display "Notifications". This will display your current service provider.

Hope this helps. :D

But would that only display the Service Provider name when the notification screen is pulled down, or is there a setting to display it permanently at the top as in other phones?

Check the lock screen. Mine appears there as well to the right of the clock.
