You're going to need a computer and and access to the internet (your phone's internet won't work for it). Personally, I wouldn't trust the wifi at Starbucks, especially with your ESN and other personal info. Hell, I wouldn't even connect to starbucks to check Facebook.

I don't think there are any instructions to root on a Mac. Well, last time I checked there were none.
