Official Release Date Rumor Thread

I'm glad I didn't wait to see what the iPhone 4S offered. 3.5" screen.... no thank you. The Siri voice control looked nice. That was about the only thing that looked impressive.

Anyone else put their GPS to the test yet?

I have used it quite a bit. I get quite a few locks on satellites even indoors. For whatever reason GPS Status says my error indoors (in my computer room with tons of electronics) is 164 feet.

I used it today for driving. Worked great. Got 9/9 satellites with an error of 15 feet. I did find it slow to reroute when I didnt go the way it wanted me to. Not sure if that is a data connection issue, app issue, or GPS.

I must say it is impressive. I used Google Maps and it locked on in my house in a few seconds. I LOVE this phone. I will say that rooting it is not as easy as the captivate though. I may just do without. I just cant run Titanium.

I can't call it TEST, but I turned on the navigation a couple of times. It locked within seconds (less than 10) while I was driving. It worked great, IDK what kind of tests should I force it into. Never used GPS Status or such. What's it good for? Only to see the number of satellites your phone is connected to?

Wow! I was reading posts and noticed I hadn't tried mine (GPS), so I loaded up maps and it locked on instantly. The fastest I've ever seen.

I will also add that the speaker volume is about 20% lower than the Captivate. I will have to live with it. Is it possible there will be a software update in the future that might fix this? Your thoughts...

Rooting the phone is pretty trivial. Plug it into USB, download the SuperOne-Click root, and hit the "root" button. There's a step in there that tells you to unplug and replug the usb cable. Maybe it's more difficult than the original Captivate method of an update.zip, but it's still pretty trivial and shouldn't discourage anyone from rooting who wants to do so.

I don't know about a software update for speaker volume. Mine is FAR better than my Captivate. The volume on my GS II when not in speaker mode is a s loud as my Captivate was in speaker mode. If I put the GS II into speaker I have to turn the volume WAY down.

Today I had to take the backroads, there was something going going on I-85 N, so I put the GPS to test. It rerouted me incredibly fast at every turn. After less than 100 feet, the maps were updated with the new route. I am pretty satisfied.

I don't know about you, but I am so glad my taxes went to converting the old HOV lane into a toll lane. My commute has increased by at least 50% this week because no one wants to pay the blasted tolls. Glad your SGSII was there to rescue you :)

If you do a seach in the regular SG2 forum you will find how to increase your volume. This forum has been up for a long time and has a LOT of great information.

This is kind of off topic, but... WHY??? Someone made a bunch of money with this project and the stupid tax payers will be stuck in traffic, probably texting on their new SGS2. :D

And back to topic (or not): I managed to put something on the glass of the camera. It doesn't cover the actual camera, but it's there. It seems to be pen ink. Any suggestions how to remove that?

And also off-topic: RIP Mr Jobs!
I think he died when he saw that iPhone fans were disappointed. iPhone 5 is only 4S. Really? Not even 4G? I have a feeling (a bad one) about Apple.

With these phone is it okay to leave them plugged in at night? I ask because when it says it is fully charged it says disconnect the cable but I need it charged overnight so I can be ready for a full day.

You phone stops charging when the battery is full so it does not matter if you leave it on charge all night. It will not over charge.

Does anyone know if by chance the Infuse battery has the same dimensions as the battery for the GSII? I have 3 of them, and hope maybe I'll get lucky.
