Droid Prime vs iPhone 5

It seems the current Apple event there has not been an iPhone 5 announced, only the iPhone 4S. If that's the case, Android will walk all over Apple. The SGSII is an amazing phone. There are 3D Android phones out. Nexus Prime will be wicked.

This is one key advantage of Android vs Apple - Android innovates 5-10 times faster than Apple's slow upgrade cycle (both hardware & OS). Android caught up to iOS in 1 year, and now is outpacing it in terms of development rapidly. There is no comparison.

I own the iPhone, iPad 2, iPod Touch, but I favor Android because of the rapid innovation and openness.

Amusing, according to quick Google search it uses OMAP4460, 1.5GHz Cortex A9 and an SGX540(WTF?) and 1280*720 screen.

Big whoop. nice Screen and CPU but what were they thinking with the SGX540?!

I just hope they release the Galaxy S II HD, that looks awesome.

Exynos @ 1.5GHz with Mali 400 MP , 1280*720 screen(4.65")

I'm an iPhone 4 owner, and I agree with you guys, that Android will stomp over the new 4S. Apple have done basically sweet FA to make the current iPhone 4 users to want to upgrade.

I'm considering waiting a while and maybe going for the Nexus Prime. Just not sure when it will be here in the UK?

Shocky, while those are rumored specs, it's always been known that OMAP4 uses a drastically overclocked SGX540, which is still an amazing chipset. In fact, all current benchmarks shows the overclocked 540 outpacing not only the Tegra 2, but also the Mali 400. Anyway, food for thought.

In fact, here's the Tegra 2, older SGX540, and Mali 400 in a GL Bench shootout. Mali got smoked.

how big is the screen goin to be on PRIME?

So your saying the PRIME phone is goin to be 3D? so pictures, videos, and web pages are goin to be 3D?

No, he mentioned different statements. He said that we have 3D phones out today, and separately, he stated that he thinks the Prime will be wicked.

how big is the screen goin to be on PRIME?

Nothing confirmed yet. We've heard 4.3", 4.52", and 4.65". We've also heard the resolution is WXGA (800x480), qHD (960x540), and HD (1280x720). We'll find out when it's announced next Tuesday.

Its going to be interesting to see how that 4.65 screen would sell. But then again all this is speculation. Nothing to do but wait and see.

Many iPhone 4 users will still be committed to their stiff two year carrier contracts. Plenty of iPhone 3 and 3GS users will be wanting upgrade though, as their contracts will no doubt have expired.

Nice job with the out of date benchmarks, Anandtech did a review of the Galaxy S II recently, I suggest you read it and stop embarrassing yourself.

Enough!

Further bickering over a single aspect of a phone with a lot of silicon in it is going to result in infractions.

People asking general questions about phones do not come here to listen sniping about graphics processors.

News: phones contain more than GPU cores, benchmarks don't tell the whole story and there's more to the ownership experience questioned in the OP than the freaking GPU and its scores.

Here's what's embarrassing - severe penalties for failure to heed a mod warning.

And because I know my posts are read on the subject, all parties in my gunsights on this are hereby served.

Enough!
