Glad I didn't wait for the new iPhone

Now I am glad that I didn't hold off on replacing my dying blackberry with the Bionic on launch day. Unless I missed something, the iPhone 4S on Verizon will still not be able to do simultaneous voice and data. I live in an LTE area and have grandfathered VZW unlimited data and an unlimited tethering plan. My Bionic will serve me well until the LTE iPhone (which may not even come out until my 20 month wait for another upgrade is available (or I can use my son's upgrade which is available now or my wife, daughter or mother in law's which are available in May 2012).

Long live LTE (and let's hope the Nov. update fixes the camera performance from horrible (low light) to passable).

YESIREEE!!

iphone 4s
Dual core - yes
LTE - NO!

Bionic FTW!

I actually didn't value LTE until I got the Bionic. I didn't get why people had it high on their necessity ladder. LTE was actually 4th on my list of most important to me behind Dual core processor, 512mb of RAM or more, and build quality but now LTE is a very close second now.

LTE is amazingly and additively FAST! I had to laugh when I saw the lame announcements out of Cupertino, crowing like proud parents about voice control and a better camera. whoop de woo...

I am not an apple fan and even if their new phone had been better I would have still not gone with it, for one simple fact and that is if I cant replace the battery myself it aint worth it.

I have noticed that my Bionic's low light shots isn't really "horrible". Actually, it's quite good(for a phone camera). Problem is, it's slow to focus in low light. The white box takes a few seconds to turn green. But the good news is, it's probably fixable by a software update. They need to use the LED for focus assist in low light. I don't know if the sensor is BSI, but it seems to be quite sensitive.
While it's nice to have a competent camera in phones, it will not replace a good dedicated camera because no matter how good they make the camera in phones, it'll never replace a dedicated camera with a good optical telephoto (or zoom) lens due to space limitations. Cropping or digital zoom is not a complete substitute.

today, on crackberry.com I refuted some clown's comment that it takes "3.7 seconds" for the bionic to release the shutter. I just tested mine--it took 1/2 second. :)

I wasn't that sold on 4G, but after having 4G speeds I don't think I could ever put up with 3G again, lol. I'm spoiled now.
