Worth It?

If you only had $100 to spend, would you spend it on the Photon or just keep the money and get the Nexus S. Please summarize why if you would like. Am curious as to if I should keep the money and get the Nexus S or if I should to wear and snag up the Photon for the $100. Hardware + Software = Worth It or no?
 
Tough one there. Photon for hardware but the nexus for software. Is the photon getting ice cream?
 
Friend of mine has a Nexus, which is a nice phone, but is half the processing power of the Photon. I pondered the Nexus for a while, but after I actually held and operated the Photon, I new it was for me.

Some of the decision should be based on how are you going to use it? My friend mostly texts with his phone. I use mine as a work companion, calendar, GPS, messaging,...music player as well.

The exceptional signal on the Photon was also a big selling point for me. I get a strong signal where I previously was on roaming. I live and travel on the outskirts of a large city and I think the strong signal has a lot to do with the great battery life.

I previously had a EVO 4G and EVO 3D and the photon's battery life is much better.

There is not much I would change about the photon. The camera is not great, but I don't really care.
 
Seems like the camera on most droids aren't all that good. I hear the bionics isn't all that great and for sure my Thrill isn't anything to rave about.

It should, yes. Most phones released this year should get ICS, if the manufacturers adhere to Google's request for 18 month support.

However, it won't be right away. If you always want the latest and greatest version of Android, you simply can not beat the Nexus series. As much as I like my Photon, sometimes I think how nice it would be to always have an up-to-date phone. But then I remember that the Nexus S 4G doesn't have an external SD card, notification light, and is rocking year-old hardware, and I feel better. :)
 
I switched from the Nexus S 4G to the Photon because Samsung radio hardware and radio driver software sucks. Unless you live at the top of Sprint tower like Rupunzell go with the Photon. If you doubt what I'm saying go check the Nexus S and ET4G forums and see for yourself. A smartphone that can't connect to a data network is basically just a fancy mp3 player. The MoPho kick ass.
 
Absolutely worth it!!! Other than the weak radios, all else is better on the Photon too including the overall build quality. The speakers are so much louder and more clearer. For something you use closely like a phone for a long time, the extra $100 is well worth it. Go for it, you won't look back. I made the switch from a Nexus S and couldn't be happier. Samsung always cuts corners in their products.

Interesting your post is the opposite of almost every owner when it comes to radio strength. I find my signal is much better than my EVO 4G was.
 
If anything, I'd say $99 for the MoPho is a MoPho'n steal! I was happy paying the $199 and even the $179 at release. When it got a quick price drop, that was just a bonus!

And on top of that, having a dual core processor, coupled with 8.92GB of usable internal storage AND a slot for my 32gb micro SD?...Can't beat that.
 
Hardware to start with. I like the way the Photon looks and feels. I can't imagine the Nexus being any faster. Cutting edge, duel core processor, and the latest radio chip (just in case Sprint changes their 4g network). I use mostly data. Email, weather, web surfing, posting on my favorite forum.

Where is the Photon being offered at $99?
