Root Rooted but not?

Are you putting it in download mode?

Power down the phone, pull the battery, hold down volume while plugging the usb cable in. You should see a big yellow triangle at that point. If you do...you're in download mode...in case you didn't know.

I rooted my phone but Odin doesn't recognize it and I can't install CWM.

This is my first experience with this phone. I'm rooting for my wife because stock was sluggish. I spent several hours yesterday searching for a good guide. Finally found this which will root and do all of the other stuff that is needed after you root. [Odin] Full EB01 Froyo leak, packaged ROMs w/root and new clockwork **UPDATED**2/11

If you follow these instructions it will work. The one thing that stumped me was Clockwork. Finally learned that the update.zip that the link has you download is CWM (red version). Once ODIN finishes and the phone is booted for the first time, you select reboot recovery it will take you to the stock recovery. From there you have to select "apply update.zip" which you should have already placed on the root of your sdcard. applying that zip will take you you red CWM. The once you are in red CWM the power button becomes the select button. Still uses volume buttons to scroll. From there you can now backup and install other roms.

Looks like this is the way to boot into CWM every time on this phone.

update...once I loaded MIUI I now boot directly into an orange CWM.

With my phone in download it does not show in Odin. I'm rooted with superuser, titanium backup works, wireless tether does not. I can't figure it out. All I want to do is put cyanogen mod on....Is that so much to ask?

When I first attempted Odin my device didn't show up. I did not install the drivers from the first post because I assumed it was the same drivers I had already installed. Once I loaded the drivers it then showed up in Odin. Once you get passed that step it only takes a few minutes to install.

i'm just trying to get wireless tether to work. I have superuser but when i try to use barnacle. it says "root not installed", or something to that effect.
