Anyway I also (maybe) had the same situation as you. But my PC went on stand by when it happened. When it came back the update process got stuck, the phone wasn't detected anymore. The only choice I had then was to remove the battery ad turn the phone on (I was sure I messed up), but the phone wasn't unharmed. I just re-started the process again and this time I succeeded upgrading it.
But I passed on to custom ROM from mik_os.

P.S: if you can please post the link to that instruction(s). Otherwise...

hey thanks for that but i was not able to detect my usb through my laptop ....and try every thing ....but couldn't succeeded .... and last option was to go to service center and they told that you briked your phone...and told it to replace motherbord......and now my phone is alright...
for noobs... i briked this phone using kdz updeter..i got stuked on emergency mode..and i removed the battery...and the all went black.... symptoms of this was..couldn't power on my phon cant ascees bootmode ...in short u cant do any thing..so be careful while doing upgrade....

For the record, when this happens all hope is not lost.

At this point, you really only can boot in emergency mode and trust me, I know it can be alarming. It happened to me and I too thought that my motherboard was fried. :p

Here's how I fixed it: start by removing the battery and then plug the phone on a computer where the correct drivers are installed. Open up the device manager (comes with Windows) and find something about a LG Modem in the Modem category. Right-click it, then disable.

Unplug the usb cord from your PC and plug it in again. You still shouldn't have a battery in your phone, yet by plugging it in the "Emergency mode" should start automatically. Open up KDZ, select Type "3GQCT" and PhoneMode "EMERGENCY". Don't forget to select a KDZ file, launch the software update and it should work.

PS: I edited the title for it to be easily searchable. ;)

Same thing happened to me, I was stuck at LG screen, and I tried to flash stock ROM through KDZ, but even though KDZ detected my phone, each time, an error message would pop up and the flash wont be successful, so now I was stuck at the emergency screen. I removed the battery to turn the phone off, but after that, no matter what happens, the phone wont boot, and that doesn't mean I'm stuck at a particular screen, but like I really bricked the phone. Nothing responds, I cant even get back to emergency mode. It looks just like the phone is off. After that KDZ cant see my phone, so I was forced to take it back to the service center yesterday. They said the PCB is damaged, so they'll replace it for me in a week (for free because I'm still within the warranty period). So whatever happens, dont remove battery when you're on emergency screen, you might brick your phone for good.

Well, removing the battery was what allowed me to fix my phone. By removing the battery and plugging it in my computer, the "emergency mode" would appear.

In short, don't mess with KDZ unless you really have to. ;)

yea, I learnt that the hard way :'( But for me there was no other option because I bricked my phone when I tried to install a custom recovery using ROM manager (twice), dunno why maybe its because of my data connection? So next time I'm gonna try to install a custom recovery using ADB shell so I wont have to look back at KDZ (hopefully) ever again. :D
