I started the download from here: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites! which is a link from this Android Police posting: [Exclusive Download] Gingerbread Build 2.11.605.3 Full RUU And New Radio For HTC ThunderBolt

I haven't verified the Checksum yet, but it's still got about four more minutes to download. From the comments though, it looks legit. You might be better off downloading this file from a dedicated isp to your computer and then transferring the file to the sd card before the install. If you're going so far as to download the RUU and taking all of this time to do the install, a bit of advice: Root the damn phone. I don't mean to be disrespectful when I say this, but in ALL DUE SERIOUSNESS, in the time it takes to have downloaded this file (and you've already tried three times already) you could have quite literally, rooted your phone with Revolutionary and a few other programs (like Titanium Backup) before installing a custom rom....

Edit: md5 verified.

Again, no disrespect. There are plenty of people out there who want to help you if you have the desire to root your phone. May I direct to you the http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/ forum and http://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/353591-how-some-root-terminology.html you'd be really surprised at how easy it is!

Try the one from Android Police Be sure to check the md5 after the download, if it is different than what is posted you should re-download.

Tks Yeahha.. The file in that link is one that I downloaded and the .zip was corrupt. In the past, the leaks I used were .exe files. I would run that .exe with my phone attached to my desktop via HTC Sync and it would update the TB image. I haven't checked the md5. I notice it was listed on the download page. Are there instructions somewhere on how this is done?

Again, appreciate the help.

Spikedred - No disrespect taken..

with the 2.11.605.0 leak, I am VERY HAPPY with the TB. Other than the camera issue. One of the reasons I decided on the TB was that it can be rooted so I planned on rooting at some point.

Then I notice when looking thru "All things Root" there are hundreds of options, with ROMs and Radios, Developers Hints, etc I got lost in the details. With work and other time pressures (excuses), I haven't gotten my head around learning what I feel like I need to learn in case my root fails. if it fails midstream, I want to be able to back out of the process without bricking my phone.

I am technical, but not a developer so I am at the start of the learning curve..

I would like to have full control over my phone but the risk of rooting is keeping me from investing my time to it. I'm getting closer though.. I will look into Revolutionary and other root tools..

Appreciate the feedback.

Most ruu files are zips not exe files you just put it on your SD card and flash in hboot. On the phone I use afv to check md5 sums on the CPU I have used md5summer

Thanks. I got AFV. I already have the RUU downloaded so I will checksum it and will flash it later today..

Appreciate the help.

Done, and Done. 10 minuntes. No problems.. running 2.11.605.3
Intersting thing is that it didn't erase everything on my phone. All downloads, ringtones, preferences, settings were still in place. It did remove my sync accounts.

Thanks again for the help. Rooting is next..

Good on ya for not taking any offense! I'll say it again, I can't possibly thank people like Yeahha and Scotty85 and others who have taken the time to answer questions and help perpetuate the community, which is why I strongly recommend rooting the phone. I try to browse the forum and help out when I can as well.

In any case, I hope you get around to doing it sooner than later! :D

Rooting the TB is a very safe procedure now all you have to do is follow directions really. If you do decide to root and have any questions feel free to ask in the All Things Root subforum, there are plenty of people there other than Scotty and myself who are able to help.
