Market - why does it suck?

i take it you're not rooted.

try Manage Applications/ Market /Uninstall update.

but tbh it will just update itself again.

as Tyseyh said if you uninstall the market it will sadly update itself again at some point...maybe a few minutes, maybe a few hours..

advice is basically, if your not rooted, then to root...then use a terminal emulator and kill the market updater file...you'll have to search for the right command to use as I don't remember it off the top of my head.

That bloody latest version Market is a bloody joke - 1stly it updated - HATED IT then got rid so went back to the 1st version on my fone THEN it wont stop updating SOO it was (luv ya GOOGLE and all that) but someone in google market help told me you cant stop it updating =

ROOT :D

My backside is anyone gonna tell me whats possible on 400 quids worth of fone ! :p

I used MybackupPro - Toolbox to 'FREEZE IT' (market updater) & 'BREAK LINK TO MARKET'...

And thank god it seems to be working...or be that NOT updating...i only rooted & not flashed any new ROMS...!

I cant believe Google cannot tailor its updates to apply to some phones and not others. Is Android Market just going to get bigger and bigger until my poor Desire is completely choked?

the thing we have to remember is while the 'new' market was released awhile ago as a side load download...the official release of it was only in the last month...and so I don't think Google has really had the time (amongst ALL it does do with its ever growing platform and projects) to devote a large portion to maybe streamlining it...or maybe they have a cut off period where they look at complaints and then decide what to do...I dunno..

But I don't think they will keep making it bigger and more slower (at least for older devices) as a core staple of Android devices are cheap/slower devices..I mean what will google do, just let the phone maker themselves put out a terrible 'their version' of the market like we see on some of the cheap tablets? heaven forbid if that happens more...
