Help 2.2 Update from LG

Alright, so we're all familiar with the numerous issues regarding the Optimus M's loaded with 2.2.1 but they've never really bothered me THAT much to make me want to root or try and downgrade. That being said, for someone with no interest in rooting, is the software update offered from LG actually worth the time? Has anyone seen improvement in the almost daily rebooting, freezes and forced closes? Or is dealing with it until I can afford to upgrade really the best option? For what it's worth I actually really enjoy this little smartphone, I just wish it had a bit more internal battery.

I've actually done the update twice. It didn't fix my reboot issue at all, but this 2.2.2 update did seem to run more smoothly. It replaces the Boingo app with Google books though. Pretty much it was made to be an "un-rootable" and more stable update, while maintaining the same OS. It has worked to prevent reboots for other people, but not me. I'd say try it, If it doesn't work, you can always downgrade.
Anyways, good luck, and I hope you find something that works for you.
Have a nice day. :D

May I ask why you did it twice?

Thanks for the quick reply, I appreciate the feedback. You too, have a nice day :)

I updated it before the update was posted to the Metro site.
When I saw it on the site, I thought it might have been different.
It wasn't. Same thing. Um, and it still didn't fix the issue.
I'm running a CM7 rom now. So far its nice, but the reboots persist.
I'm still trying to find other tings that might work.
But yeah i hope it works for you.

Just an update, went ahead and upgraded to 2.2.2 and everything seems to be running smoothly. Funny because as I was going to plug my phone in to the USB cable it rebooted. I guess one more reboot before I killed the problem.

Hope everything stays this way!

Oh well I might have found something that will work for me, I'm testing it out now. Also I read somewhere on this forums that sometimes after you flash a rom or update, the phone may reboot itself to finalize install. So one or two may be expected, any more than that might still be the problem. Just do what you normally would on it, like browse, text, call, and play with apps. lol. If you notice it has reboot more times, please post about it with details. We might be able to help you more.
Goodluck. :D

This rebooting and freezing is a common problem. People tell me my kernel is clocked too highly or that I got a bad phone. I changed my phone several times and tried several clock settings -- also I've been overclocking PCs for more than 10 years so I have an idea of what to look for.

I can't find anyway to fix it. It seems a bit better than it used to, but I do not like to use my phone as an alarm clock because I can never be sure if the phone will randomly reboot or not. Having the phone plugged in does not seem to prevent reboots on my device either.

Running the stock rom reboots are just a way of life. The 2.2.2 update fixes some of the problem but not all. Running a CM7 rom myself, last time I rebooted my phone was to install the new flashplayer a couple days ago, it doesn't reboot itself...

To fix my random reboots and hangs 2.2.did help but I also had to un mount sd card , back up, format, then re mount.i never had a reboot since then

I think the thread about deodexing might have fixed my problem. My phone hasn't reboot in almost 3 days. (Usually it would happen multiple times a day) Also this is actually the first time I've been able to use the phandroid app without it rebooting. So ill continue to test this, I might post a link, though the thread should still be on the main page. Anyways, have a good day. Hope you find something that works.
