Terrible battery life

Just upgrading from the desire so i know all about HTC's and poor battery life but this is just ridiculous, im on my third charge cycle but its discharging at a rate of 25% an hour and thats it at idle. The battery usage stat says my display is at fault for 50% of the usage but its turned off the whole time!!

im happy to buy the anker battery but thats only going to give me an extra two hours at this rate!!!!

That is much too high a drain. Mine lasted at least 20 hours on idle with the stock battery. Either there is a fault with your battery, or a fault with your phone, or you have some software running in the background that is sucking the life out of the battery. Suggest you start with the last one and remove all apps you have installed to see if that improves it. If not send it back for a replacement.

I done a system reset earlier and took everything off of it that i'd put on but its still draining away, im getting 4 hours per charge.

dud battery is my conclusion.
 
yeah will be getting returned, i can function with a phone that needs charged daily but thats just ridiculous!
 
One more thing. What is your mobile signal like where you are. Constantly searching for a signal can eat up battery life too
 
its a strong signal always, the battery graph is saying that its my display thats killing the power ok fine but how can it be that when the phone is in sleep mode, its losing the power on idle just like me playing with it.

In comparison my desire was took off charge at the same time this morning and its sitting at 95% with everything syncing, the sensation is on its 3rd charge lol
 
I would root the phone and get a custom rom for it. It's the only way you're going to get decent battery performance from it, either that or always carry a spare fully charged battery with you. HTC sense literally kills the battery. I get about 7 or hours max from mine. I'm going to root my fone at the end of the week to improve the battery performance.
 
I can get a lot more out of mine than that. In my view getting rid of Sense is like throwing the baby out with the bathwater. If I wanted a non-Sense Android phone I would not have got an HTC.

And I have a 2nd Anker battery and the original OEM one that I can carry around if I am going to be away from electricity for long periods.
 
Most of the time I get 'nearly' 48 hours out of mine (using Green Power and Airplane Mode at night).

I made sure the first couple of weeks I ran it down to zero % and did a full charge, seemed to help 'condition' the battery.
 
I'm using the Battery-Defender Battery Saver app from Infolife. I now get nearly 48 hours if I'm using it lightly.
I also had installed AVG virus checker, and that ate battery like mad. Uninstalling that made a huge difference.

What I'm saying is that Sense is a huge battery drain and that having a custom rom installed will greatly improve battery life without the need for apps on the market to improve battery life. HTC are great phones, they just come with too much bloatware.
