Hey everybody! Us avid users here at AndroidForums notice these forums are VERY polite, awesome! New people may not know this though.

Here's my idea for this thread: post your question down below with the title as QUESTION and ask it. Answers should quote it and put title as ANSWER so it is easy to sort. Everyone can contribute! Lets all help out eachother because other threads are sometimes ignored.

is it safe to s-off and root. there is a lot more steps to this phone than there was with my cricket android. im affraid to actually try it.

Any rooting process can involve bricking. This phone while complicated to root, is actually pretty simple.

Take a look here but replace the S-Off part with HTCDEV
 
Will it be safe to do software updates once you have rooted the phone or is it likely you could brick your phone doing this?
 
You should never do software updates when rooted. Depending on the update, it could brick or unroot. Never a good idea to do so because the default ROM could be missing.
 
Oh ok just wondering because on their site he listed devices that could and said their are many others that could but werent tested. he also had a list that couldnt and it wasnt listed on that list. then he also said that all other devices could, so i really dont know if it can be lol.
 
i must be a real idiot because i cant figure out how to do it anyway. i guess im not meant to root this phone.
