Does the Droid X2 drain faster than it can charge?

I have a Motorola Droid (1) and it has just about given up the ghost, so I am forced to replace it, and am considering the Droid 3 or Motorola Droid x2

My biggest complaint of the Droid is on long (12-hour) motorcycle trips I often found that, even when plugged in, playing Music and running navigation (screen and GPS always on) it would drain the battery faster than it could charge it and run out of juice and shut off in the middle of a trip.

Does the Droid X2 suffer from this issue?


Bonus question, how well does the Droid X2 handle high heat?

Ive had times when mine was plugged into the wall and the battery dies while im just browsing the web with it. I imagine it wouldnt be good for your situation.

Also mine seems pretty unstable whenever I leave it in the car when its hot out.

Thanks. I'm told the wall charger is 850mA, so if that is not suitable to keep it going with sustained heavy usage and you cant use anything rated higher, then the x2 is probably out.

I'm surprised you've had those issues. My X2 never had any problems charging. It may be an issue with the outlet. I continuously browse the web, watch flash videos and play games on the device while it is charging and it still charges, albeit more slowly than it normally would.

I'm surprised as well. I say that because if you use the right equipment it should charge just fine. On the road I use a Verizon branded rapid-charger. Once it's plugged in it charges till the phone says 100% and stays there untill I plug it out. I'm also in a car so I'm not sure if the same amount of electricity is being pushed from your motorcycle battery to the phone as you would in a car.

At home I had an old blackberry storm 1 and I made sure the I/O voltage matched what was on my original droid x2 charger and it was. The cord is longer so it's more convenient. I would start there to see if using the right equipment might help solve your issues.
