Ooohhh which one? Should I wait for the S3 or go for the Nexus?

You should definitely wait for the Galaxy S6 it will be better than the S5 which will be better than the S4 which will be better than the S3.

I hope you understand my point

couldn't have said it better myself.....BUT to give you my view on things, I had and OG droid and i bought an HTC incredible on craigslist because that thing was getting to be a drag and i thought to myself maybe I will wait until the next gen processors come out....then i realized I will be waiting forever! I had a nice performance jump going from the droid to the incredible I'm not even on dual core yet! The NFC and camera functionality sold me on this one and it being pure android from google.

If you can hold out long enough for the SGSIII, more power to ya. Not me though. Remember the SGSII came out in may/june to the rest of the world and we are JUST NOW getting it. There are no promises that it will come to the US, or what crap bloatware will be loaded on it (remember the bing phones? lol). Verizon will almost definitely pass it up, as they do with all good phones.

Galaxy nexus FTW

Lol...USA may not see a SG variant until late next year! Its a no contest on this topic...Nexus

as every1 stated, its unfortunate but you could play the waiting game forever, as there is always something better coming in a month or 2, eventually u have to make a decision

u mite make a decision then in a month a giant technological breakthrough comes up and you'll be kicking yourself for not holding out a little longer as now your device is old news, its possible and it's unavoidable, just choose what you most like at the time you need it

ive been waiting to get a new phone for a while now to replace my iphone 3gs, was holding out for the galaxy nexus announcement, and although im not overly impressed by the internals(cpu/gpu) they stated it will have, it is still going to be an improvement over what i have now and im sure i will not regret the upgrade

all depends on your preference and needs and only you know those

....but since ur askin...

get the galaxy nexus....y?....cuz it will be available soon

is their any confirmed specs for the SIII?

when will Samsung and others bring 3d phones???

Really, everyone hit the nail on the head. If you want or need a phone now and have an upgrade, The Gnex is the place to be. Everyone here is just sitting patiently staring at their monitors just waiting for a release date.

The only reason to even consider waiting for the SGIII is if you are comfortable with what you have, don't have an eligible upgrade, or are broke and can't afford it. Realistically, the SGIII might not even be seen until June if not later in the year of 2012. Can you wait that long?

I'm holding out for the Galaxy Nexus IV, or maybe even the iPhone 8

I'm going to wait, other than the screen it's not much of an upgrade for me.

I don't really care about ICS at this point.

Also the Samsung Note will be out soonish, larger screen, higher resolution, CPU is clocked higher and uses Mali 400MP which is faster than the SGX540 in the Nexus.

Best post right here. For me, this is my upgrade logic, since I don't want to wait forever. If I am considering an upgrade, the upgrade has to pass these tests;

-My current phone is no longer adequate or quickly becoming inadequate for my needs (this could be due to being obsolete, or my needs having changed)
-The device that I'm considering has to exceed my current needs in a way that I can expect to get more than one year (preferably 2) out of it.
-Cost (IE, if I'm on contract, do I want to spend $600 to upgrade?)

Bottom line is, if my first condition isn't met, I can hold out indefinitely. If I had a Nexus S w/32GB (wish Google had made one), I wouldn't even be considering an upgrade right now, as I'd get at least another year out of it. I've been sitting on an upgrade for awhile now as neither my first nor second conditions have been met. Condition 1 is occurring now, and condition 2 will be met by the Galaxy Nexus (if available in 32GB).

I'm just annoyed that I'm in the position of seriously wanting a new phone now. I've had an upgrade available for 4 months now, but Verizon does not have a single phone that I consider to be adequate. I eyeballed the SGSII all summer, and now that the Galaxy Nexus isn't going to be absolutely perfect I wish I could hold out longer for something with a Samsung CPU and a perfect screen...but I can't.

My Droid X can't hold a connection to headphones anymore...and ROM development has come to a complete halt. I mean I love how fast CM7 is but you would think the bugs would be fixed eventually...they haven't been.

I'll admit, there was a lull there where Verizon wasn't getting the best phones. However, this quarter they've outdone themselves. They're getting Rezound, Nexus, and RAZR, which are the top phones from the big 3 (Samsung, Moto, HTC). No US carrier will have the same selection as the Euro carriers that allow unlocked phones, although most of them can be used on AT&T if you want to buy unsubsidized. I just don't want to pay more (unsubsidized) for worse service.

Have you tried CM 7.1? It's a very recent released and fix MANY concerns over CM 7.0.x. I want to say it came out on the 9th, because I installed it around the 11th. It was leaps and bounds better than 7.0.x for me, I even went back to Sense for several months.

I waited a day or two after release and never saw a download for the DX (or cdma_shadow) so I stopped looking. Have rev's 10-6 CM7GB build installed now and it's working OK.

I've been so focused on SGN news I haven't bothered flashing a new ROM.

My mistake. Seems they're still on nightlies on your device. Lack of CM support from Moto plus the suckitude that is Blur is what's keeping me from being interested in the RAZR. I have friends with the Bionic and X2, and both lag far more than my Incredible (stock, or CM 7.1).

Pretty sure SGSIII will have more of the spec I really want (primarily a microSD slot) but I'm not waiting up to another year... only for Verizon to pass on it again. My contract is up and I'm dying to get the hell off this slow, ancient 3GS and onto a slick, speedy, customizable Android phone. So despite the Nexus's flaws, I'll almost certainly be getting it.

SGSIII seems pretty far away now. But as we move into early next year, we will definitely hear about it more details. I heard that it will have LTE radio across the board on all versions. So probably verizon won't pass on it like they did on SGSII.
