Help How to unlock with Google account without a data connection?

Hello,

How can you unlock your HTC Desire HD phone when you have forgotten the unlock pattern using you Google account, when there is no date connection on the phone?

When you enter you email and password the phone needs to connect to Google's mail server and verify it the right email and password, right? And how is this done without a date connection? I men there is no way to access the WIFI setting or mobile network settings.

As far as I'm aware, the phone still boots (or at least loads core functions) whilst the screen is locked so WiFi/data should become active even before you've actually accessed the OS/unlocked.

That feature would be pretty pointless otherwise.

True. If the phone was set up for a WIFI/data connection, then there would not be any problems. The problem is that the phone is not set up for any WIFI/data connection

Then your only way to sort is a factory reset via the bootloader unfortunately.

That thought has crossed my mind. Is this really true? Are you 100% sure?
Somehow I refuse to believe it....

Can't see any other way. If you've no internet connection, I'm 99.99% sure there isn't any other option.
