rom manager

i dont really know where to begin
i keep losin pages im gettin reviews abouts roms from
ive changed my mind loads
ive got all types of roms on my comp
villain
revolution
dlev
but everytime i go into it u get warnings that put me well off

give me an idiot walkthru guide
step by step and il send u a beer

Im currently on an old version of Villain. 2.3 I think . So well behind on the update front. Mainly due the fact I keep losing my usb cables. (Just ordered another 3 from ebay) Villain Rom is no thrills simple. It has a few bugs. ( The browser is terrible at times with force closing flash run sites) The tweak installer is pretty shite imo. No unistall for example. BUT everything else works a treat. I was tempted else where but nothing has been released that any faster.

easiest one is revolution

1. save the kitchen app file on the secondf post of his xda page to your PC and transfer it to your phones memory

2. install the app via CWM (apply apk file)

OR download the apk file directly to you phone from the webpage, and apply it directly by clicking on the downloaded file.

Once you have the app, open it. you can then press the menu button, select download rom, and the rom will automatically install.

i tried that i put the app on that worked fine
downloaded the rom
but what do i do when it reboots
into recovery mode
it says
reboot
update from sdcard
wipe something
wipe somethings else

what do i do next plz

Sounds like the right things happening. It takes quite a long time to install, it will wipe cache, wipe dalvik, then should install. How long did you leave it? What happens after these messages appear? Out may take 10 minutes out so but should sort itself out from there!

If still no joy just try again.

If still no joy try rebooting into recovery mode and manually applying rom zip file through cwm

i tried wth the kitchen app
no joy
then i got the rev rom on my external sd
tried to install from
recovery couldnt get to external sd from there
so i moved the zip to phone
tried again
it says
E: signature verification failed

baseband
I9100XXKI3
kernel
XWKDD ???? dont know why this has changed lol
build number
GINGERBREAD.XXKI3

when i boot in recovery
i get the option to apply update from sd

not apply zip

ok i downloaded it tried to
install it in recovery
by choosing
update from sd
got the same E signature verification failed

now when my phone boots up my original ringtone starts and wont stop

whats goin on lol

Help please

also when trying to use rom manager "install rom from sd card"
i get another E message sayin failed

it seems everything i do fails lol

if i reboot into recovery mode, the 4th option down is "install zip from sdcard" - this is where you'd install the rom zip file.

the other option is if you restart your phone, go to your CWM app and try installing zip file from here??

my only other suggestion would be whether your problems are related to having rooted with the old/generic XWKDD CF file. as your firmware is KI3, then try flashing chainfires insecure KI3 kernel:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=732531&d=1317117018

then try applying the rom through the kitchen app or through CWM as before

i have flashed the kernel through Odin
and now in cwm i see the same options as you

i have lost my over clocked kernel though

and the yellow triangle is back with his mates

if i use the JIG what does it do other than remove
the Void Warrenty Badge

It will remove the yellow warning triangle and will reset the counter that says how many times you've flashed with Odin to 0. You will still be rooted so you can just reflash the custom kernel you were using before with the cwm app.

try installing the rom from the app again. should work this time.

then remove yellow triangle with jig.

job done!

ive got rev rom on now but its booting up and it seems stuck on the loading ahh wait a mo
its doin something lol
were on!!

thanks guys

ill be back in 20 mins with more problems i bet ya

glad things are sorted!

to overclock would need to flash a new kernel that supports it - siyah seems to be the flavour of the moment, available from the kitchen app or the latest 2.0 version available on XDA

then you need an app, either o/c daemon from the kitchen app or set cpu from market place.

not confident enough on these to give you any advice on how to use, but others on here might, alternatively slug /hawker have had a thread going recently giving a bit of a noobs guide to overclocking. personally I'd advise reading lots yourself about it first

I use voltage control. To be honest the overclocking bit won't really cause too many problems, the gs2 has no problems running at 1.4 or 1.6GHz. The problems will only arise if you undervolt as well. So if all you want to do is increase the max GHz then you shouldn't have any problems.
