Help Uninstall DROIDX Update 4.5.605 ?

Is there any way to uninstall or roll-back, etc DROIDX Update 4.5.605?

Just read threads about buggy-ness after i started the update. I haven't installed it yet, just have downloaded it.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I'm not rooted, currently. Was interested to know if it is possible w/o rooting.
SBF does not require rooting. It does require a computer though. BTW 605 is less buggy than 602, so are you looking to go back to Froyo? Maybe you should give 605 a chance before you decide to go backwards.

Also, if you SBF back to Froyo, you'll lose everything that is not on your SD card (settings, apps, etc).

Yah 605 is okay with me so far. Was just safety-checking :)

Not to mention, you'll have to root to prevent the update from happening automatically again. :D

+1, much easier to work with 605.

"read about bugs"... that's a good one. You're missing all the posts like, "geez, mine works just fine". :D

I too have downloaded it but do not want to install it after realizing it might put me in a place where I can't get back to the setup I have now. I'm not a technical person but somehow DID manage to follow a youtube video and set up my Droid X to act as a wireless hotspot (I have the "wireless tether" option now" and I'm afraid I won't be able to figure out how to do it again...), I don't know whether I am "rooted" or not (I don't even know what it means to be honest...)

SO, now that I have downloaded the 4.5.605 upgrade my phone asks if I want to install it twice a day - every time I click "later" but really I want it to stop asking me if I want to install it (I never should have downloaded it in the first place...)

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance technical folks!!!

Well, you are probably rooted (there should be an "superuser" app in the app drawer if you are). However, there is now a tether app in the market called FoxFi that does not require root. So, if you don't care about any other root capabilities (i.e. Titanium Backup or AdFree), you might just want to update and use FoxFi.

To stop the updates, you need to be rooted and remove/rename the updater file. There's a thread around here somewhere that tells you how to do it.

PDANET works wonders for me as a tether. I am not rooted and don't know if it works on a rooted phone. But it's worth a glance either way.

Yeah, but PDANet just does wired and BlueTooth tethering. FoxFi turns your phone into a wifi hotspot.

They need to update their Market description. However, the "What's New" and their website does say, "Version 3.50 is integrated with FoxFi to give you WiFi Hotspot mode support." So, you can get PDANet for all three or FoxFi for just wifi.
