Motorola and Verizon just slapped us!

Question about sealed batteries...both my OG and my new Bionic freeze up sometimes. So if you can't pull the battery, how do you fix/reset it?

Devices with non-removable batteries generally have keypress combos that do the equivalent of a Ctrl-Alt-Del or a power off. The iPhone, for example, has a power down action if you hold the home and power button at the same time.

When the Razr is actually released hopefully it will have something like that.

My only concern: it is still not as effective as pulling the battery.

for my first post ill say this.

i bought a droid x used for my first android phone. i LOVED that phone. i bought the bionic because it was basically a droid x with a front camera

im more of a hardware guy. i love the feel of the bionic, shape, weight, exc.

samsung phones have always felt slippery to me. my wife had a fascinate that i always felt like i could just not hold.

im more than optimistic that ICS will see the light of day on the bionic.

im not sure what people expect out of the industry. i had blackberries for years and saw new phone after new phone. every 6 months or so another phone will be out. apples been doing it for years now. for what i use my bionic for(more casual that productivity) im not sure i need more than what it gives me

Do keep in mind that it's possible that Costco may not even get the Nexus. While I'd doubt that, I don't think Costco has ever offered a Nexus device in store. Just something to consider.

I was under the impression that I could return it within 90 days to get my money back but I will still be under contract. That's what my costco said, and since I'm still under contract I can buy my upgrade anywhere, anytime including a corporate store.

We have 2 upgrades available, and I'm going to use one of them on the Nexus.

I think you can get your money back and you can just activate another phone to that line. But that kinda sucks that you are basically using two upgrades to get the Nexus. That upgrade option you used to get the Bionic is gone after 14 days, can't get it back.

To me, upgrades are valuable especially nowadays. :(

Only a single slap because there's an update that it uses the same processor as the Bionic. Unless they update it again, then it'll be a double slap again. :p

I'm lucky to be on a family plan still that has a line that never really upgrades though :D, my final decision won't come till I can physically feel and play with both phones at the store

I think you deserve a slap for starting this mess. haha. jk sean. :p

I'm actually ok with Moto releases this phone. It's looking more and more that the Bionic will benefit from the Razr's release because it'll just piggy back on the updates it receives. :D

Same processor, same RAM and probably the same software with minor tweaks. So I'm ok. At least that's what my therapists says. :p

I bought the BIONIC knowing full well that there were going to be more phones in the coming months. But you just have to stop and take the plunge at some point, and when and where you do it is gonna be entirely up to you.

My DROID was getting old, and inching toward oblivion, and I needed a new powerful phone that could do many many different things - so I got the BIONIC. Buyer's remorse? Not really - I researched it thoroughly, and I got he phone I wanted.

And, like someone said above- I will never, ever *EVER* have a phone with a non removable battery. Period.

I couldnt have said it any better. At some point in time you have to buy a new phone! You cant get upset when a new phone hits the market. I will give you a perfect example:

I just bought my Bionic today. I had an ERIS for 2yrs. Do you know how many phones came out during that time frame. When i bought my Eris, it was the most bad ass Android phone on the market. Looking at it now, it looks like a broke down rusty pickup truck! You know how many times i saw a new phone come out and thought wow i would love to have that.

Its just the nature of the business. There is always going to be something better.

With that being said, i am only about 8hrs into my Bionic, but i can tell you that this phone is amazing!! Obviously i am comparing it to my Eris and for me that justifies the purchase that i just made. This phone is blazing fast and the 4g/LTE is awesome. I have no regrets whatsoever.

One last thing. For those of you bitching about the display, who cares, its a cell phone. Its not a 50" flat screen its a 4" cell phone. The display is fine. Maybe i'm just old school but i dont plan on watching movies on my telephone and to me that would be the only reason that i would be concerned about what has the best display! Looks fine to me.

So i think the lesson here, is be happy with what you have. Just think it could be the year 2001 and we could be sitting here bitching about who has the coolest flip phone. Be grateful for what we have!!!! We live in an amazing time period where we have some really cool technology. Just embrace it.

I'm outta here. I am going to go stare at my display some more!

You'se are both right. I just don't see why you'd just throw away an upgrade like that. I'd put the whole thing up on eBay or something first, maybe make even more.

Sean76...The Phone whore, home wrecker! I started some mess...lol

The one and only thing I was pissed at, and still am a tiny bit...was that it took 9 months to bring us the Bionic...And when they finally did, 1 month later announce the Razr...lol...What a kick downstairs.

If the Bionic released on time, nobody blinks an eye...I would say,,,hey that's the Tech world 4 ya. But it didn't and here we are.

There's a pretty interesting article on Phone Dog right now about Moto and VZW droppin 3 DROID branded phones within like a 4 month period, and it just not being cool! I tend to agree...

Either way...I'm ok with how it worked out at this point. It is what it is, I'm Selling my Bionic for around $350 when the Nexus or Razr drop and just paying the difference for one of those bad boys.

Now the Question will be which one...Hmm???

Oh good you're in the "acceptance" stage already. I'm glad you made it through this man. :p

My suggestion for you between those two devices would be the Nexus since you like the Droid Charge. I don't think you'll find a big difference between the Razr and the Bionic. So might as well go a totally different route. Or you wait for the HTC and save yourself having to sell the Nexus or Razr just to get the Rezound because let's face it...you're probably going to get that phone too.

Lol...Yea I'm leaning on the cloud...hehehe! Yes honestly I am leaning towards the Nexus at this point.

Rezound would have to be super Kick ass for me to get it. HTC and battery life do not fit in the same sentence.

The bionic feels nothing like the X. The X has a way better hardware quality feel and metal not plastic. Also the bionic absolutely smokes the X in performance.

I was under the impression that the original Bionic got scrapped and the phone that was designed to come out next (targa?) got renamed Bionic...

So therefore wasn't this version of the Bionic always supposed to come out at this time?

NO Friggin Way! It's bad business...

VZW and Moto took advantage of people that were all amped up about the Bionic, and really did'nt do the right thing here...If you dont see my point, well it is what it is then...Some people just agree to disagree.
I'd have to agree here. It's another blemish on the record for Moto, if you ask me.

Keeping it strictly objective, Apple offers a buy back program for iPhone 4 users who recently acquired the device, if it was within a given window, prior to the 4S release. That, IMO, is part of what defines good customer service, bolsters customer retention, and is overall more favorable in principle, IMO.

I'm not really interested in the Razr, but this move makes me lose that much more faith in Moto and their ability to calculate and make moves in this market. Among other things, the Bionic delay was sold to the consumer as being necessary to build a better device. That's great, and I do believe we did see a better device once it finally launched-- however, after such a long delay, it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of some consumers, when during that same period, they designed something to eclipse that premium priced flagship, creating buyers remorse (for some), and possibly cannibalizing their own device sales.

Lesson learned? A business will do what it must (also, not to neglect VZW's hand in this), but I'm leaning heavily towards not buying another Moto product for the foreseeable future.

Here's an idea for you to consider. There is room in the markt for both Razr and Bionic.

Bionic is the workhors for mobile people who want 4G LTE and need to downlload/upload a lot of data every day. Multiple batteries are a must.

Razr is the show pony for management to impress each other and be compatible with the capabilities in the workhorse phones their people are using.

... Thom

If it is true that it's the same processor, the least they could do is bump us to 1.2 with the update.. that would take away a little bit of the hurt anyone may be feeling. -droidosis-
