Root Help me please the wife...

Newbie
Optimus M and she can't watch Netflix. Please tell me the steps and I will look for the info and details to do it (root it?, overclocking it? new rom flashed?). If you provide me with the big picture it would help me out to start getting the necessary info and apps. Thanks...if you're married you'll understand!

all you need is the adobeflashplayer.apk (i believe) its only a few posts down...install and then retry netflix.
 
You will also need, a ROM that works.

All the GB based ROMs work with the 10.1 flash, look like crap. I heard the another hacked 10.2 works better.

Stock based ROM like the Sense ROM do not work.
 
 
thanks for the prompt responses. I was told that flash player did not work on this phone but i gather there is a version that does? PMB116...which version of recovery you said is not the right one? My wife's phone has android 2.2 if that helps.

If she is running 2.2.2 then you are going to need to downgrade to 2.2.1 with LGNPST first, then root with Gingerbreak. Some people have had luck with using Gingerbreak on 2.2.2 but it's been very few.

thanks for the link pmb116. I've a lot of reading to do!. Insanecrane, my wife's phone version of android is just 2.2 No more numbers than that and my daughter's is 2.2.1 so they are different versions. Do I need different procedures? Thanks to all of you!
 
also, i do not want to waste anybody's time...if you know that netflix won't play let me know. It will be a sad moment, but the sooner the better, jajaja
 
I know these are very basic questions but...do i need an sd card for rooting or all the other procedures? the installation is done through the computer? do I need any special drivers? thanks!
 
I'm so new even the simplest things seem complicated to me! I'll start by steps and i will use first the gingerbreak rooting. I'll let you know how it goes..

It's quite alright there are no "stupid" questions. Everyone has to start somewhere and how are you supposed to learn without asking. The community here is great and we are all here to help all you need to do is ask.
 
I need to know how to move an apk to the phone from computer and how to do the install. Pretty basic, I know...it shows how new I am!. I do have the USB drivers...Thanks for the encouragement, INSANECRANE!
 
In order to install a "custom" apk, just connect your phone to the pc (allowing it to go into USB storage mode) and put it in the main folder that opens. (Note:you must have the LG drivers already installed on your pc, or else it wont recognize the phone). One you move the apk into the SD card on the phone, disconnect and use File Manager/ThinkFree Office/etc (anything that lets you look inside the directories) to open the apk. Install ..etc. ;) Hope that helps.
