When I update y phone it updates to 3019. How come many people on this board ar updating up to 3024? Why is metro not updating my phone to the newer list? Where did they get these updates from?

The PRL is the preferred roaming list. It basically updates any new towers available for the carrier. If you dial *228 you'll get 3019. I loaded 3025, have also used 3024. I don't see any difference in any of the PRL's, no matter which one I use. Others may report positive effects.

I also downloaded the Blutiful theme which indicates 3G service. I don't believe Metro offers 3G service even if the phone indicates 3G.

It's up to you whether you want to use whats there or force an update. Trial and error, If your happy with what you have stick with it.

Not quite. Blutiful does not report fake 3G. If you see a 3G icon there, rest assured, it's genuine 3G. Congratulations!
Otherwise, it will show 1x, or 4g, depending on what mode it's on.
While it's true that you can edit the signals when updating a theme to display something different as a status/connectivity mode, Blutiful - nor my new Greengnificent theme - does not follow in that practice. ;)
 
I enjoy Blutiful very much, I'm not knocking it, I just said I didn't think Metro is pushing true 3G, compared to ratio of the other carriers who promote 3G service.

The only time my 3G gets better than 1x is when I'm in Dallas, then I notice a difference in speed.

Without Blutiful, we would all be in the dark....

S'ok! I didn't think you were knocking on Blutiful. I just realized I never confirmed that the status icons in Blutiful reflected real signal status, and your concern was valid since many a theme maker sometimes change those icons to make their phone themes look more "up to date". Just clearing that confusion, and reassuring you of the 3G-ness of Metro's Indulge! :D


And oh! If you liked Blutiful, you should try Greengnificent! I gotta say, it's a nice little piece of theme...
 
I have updated to the 3025 and I get 3G service in Atlanta, but only in the same places that I get 4G. With the 3019 standard, you will NOT get 3G capablities. However, that being said... I have alot done the PRL 3025 on my wifes and Fathers LG Optimus, and they are just now getting 3G locally (Cartersville, Ga) so they are ecstatic to have faster speeds on a 3G phone that hasnt been 3G, nor will it ever be 3G with the standard 3019 PRL.
