Root Little help here

I got out of the Optimus M scene around last april before my trips to China and whatnot, so I'm a little lost now. There is just so much information with this phone now. It went from one or so poorly ported ROMs to a boat load of gingerbread ROMs and Froyo ROMs.

Can anyone tell me which ROM works best on the Optimus M? And I also just saw that there is a 3G hack? on Metro??

A few opinions to guide me in the right direction would be great!
note: I'm running a recovery menu that was first released around last december. I don't the name of the recovery menu, but it was something like the first and only recovery menu at that time. My phone is rooted as well.

I flashed the Sense ROM yesterday, and I dont like the battery life with it... I lose as much as 5% every 20 minutes with constant usage or 10% in about an hour just sitting my pocket... i need a new rom.

You have Joneidys recovery, the only problem with this is backups don't work properly. You will want getitnowmarketings recovery or CWM recovery, the latter being a little tricky to install.

Sense rom should have good battery life, try downloading battery calibration app from the market.

Most people agree the CM7 roms are best. There are 3 different pones each with their own style.

Its probably GINM recovery. He has a new one out that works well. The new CM Rome wont give you the battery life you want. I would probably at this point suggest Aplus's ROM or Kelso's ROM as they are stock with some theming done to them.

The CM roms have the same battery life as stock or sense if properly calibrated. I used to have bad battery life with reppards first cm7 port, but all the newer ones seem fine to me.

which calibration app do you use? I tried the generic "battery calibrate" app (its a red and black android icon) on the sense rom and the battery life is still horrible. It literally drops 10% in the first 30 minutes. How can i get better battery life?

I downloaded Battery Calibration by Nema from the market and it worked well for me. I'm running Reppard's CM7 build and have just as much nattery life as with stock.

Ok i'm downloading it right now...I'll try it once my battery gets to 100%

Manually updating your PRL to one of the newer ones like 3024 or 3025 will enable and strengthen 3g in markets that support it. A new PRL (roaming list) can also improve signal and data speeds. I strongly recommend doing this through either CDMA Workshop or QPST (Qualcomm Professional Service Tools). There are some great tutorials here in the All Things Root section to help you out :) Once you manually upgrade forget about doing the OTA thing cause it'll revert you back to a lower PRL cause metro is just like that.
