Root custom kernel on stock rom for optimus one.??

hey..
i hv a Lg O1 stock froyo 2.2.2, rooted.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG HERE. AND PLZ HELP RIGHT HERE, DONT POST XDA LINKS COZ I'VE BEEN THROUGH THEM AND DIDNT UNDERSTAND SHIIT.. :|

From wat i've read so far, roms are just for software purposes. fonts, themes etc.
the main performance or battery savings are done by kernels.
so i've heard a lot about franco kernels.
my question is.

1 can i flash his kernl over my stock rom
2 will it make a difference
3 can i revert back once i've done so
4 do i need to make backups for flashing a kernel too
5 can do this over my froyo 2.2.2 (if not then how can i?)

When I read the little preview my first thought was to suggest going to XDA developers...and post in the sub forum dedicated to your phone.

After reading your post.... I still thought it was a good idea.

XDA guys talk in really high level languages, and being new to all this stuff have no idea wat they talk about :/

3. yes but after you revert back to lg kernel it will be showing like
before you flash custom kernels, lg kernel name wil be shown as say"xxx"
when you revert back , lg kernel name will be shown as "xxx #1"
I donot know the reason.
4. Yes for safe side
5. yes
