Root Rooting LG optimus V 2.2

I have an LG Optimus V through Virgin mobile. I'm not tech nut by any means, I'm not completely in the dark when it comes to technology, but I'm not really good with that kind of stuff either. I've been looking up stuff about rooting phones and how it makes them faster and everything and it sounds like something that is really useful and all, but how much do you actually need to know to do this without messing anything up? I'd love to be able to overclock the phone and underclock the phone when needed, but I don't know if I know enough to do this type of stuff without turning my phone into a paper weight. Any help would be appreciated.

You should go to the "All Things Root" section of the subforum for your model and read everything you can get your hands on about the rooting process - that will help you get a handle on it. Good luck!

Unless it has been fixed, SOC only gives temp root access and I think only on the 2.1.

I'd poke around some threads in this sub-forum, specifically look into Gingerbreak.

I agree with MacFett. Check to see if you have 2.2.1 or 2.2.2 before you begin rooting. If you have 2.2.2 then I'd suggest using Gingerbreak.

1st Thing: I had a lg optimus v runnig 2.1, then i rooted using the superone method and then i upgraded my lg optimus v to 3.4.
2nd Thing: My mistake= i went the virgin mobile site and i saw an update,
I downloaded and I install it.....now my phone was 2.2
3rd thing: now i wanna root my phone back but i just dont know how?
