Kind of New to Customizing

I rooted my phone and put CM7 on it yesterday, but, where do I go from there?

How do I do further customization? Can I change keyboards? More than the five pre-loaded themes? Etc. .

you can change keyboards and you can get more than the pre loaded themes. All you have to do do to change keyboards is download one from the market and once it installs you just go into settings, then "language and keyboards" and check the box next to the new one to enable it. As far as themes...you can just search "cm7 themes" on the market and once you download the one you want it will appear with the rest of the themes in the "theme chooser" app and you can apply it from there. Any other questions?

To add to p-bOt's advice: To further enhance themes, download an app called "MetaMorph" from the market. On a lot of the theme descriptions the devs post links to their homepages/XDA posts where they have add-ons that can be downloaded and applied with metamorph. The app itself is pretty easy to use and with minimal research you can find a variety of add-ons and other cool things to do with metamorph. Also explore EVERY possible setting with CyanogenMod as you will find lots of options on board for tweaking and enhancing your phones interface and performance.

PLEASE NOTE: Theme Chooser themes compiled with Windows will generate a false error "Your System Assets Are Missing" or something similar. Just select "Apply Anyway" and enjoy your new theme. The Optimus M is a MDPI device and so some HDPI only themes may run correctly but most of them won't. Those generate an error "Theme was improperly compiled please notify developer". Never move a theme to the SD card as this will cause the theme to reset to stock after each reboot. As always make a NAND backup before applying any metamorph changes just to be safe. It's far easier to make a backup and then apply ALL of the metamorphs you intend to use at once. If any of them fail you can simply restore your backup and try something else.

ANOTHER NOTE: If you have CWM recovery DO NOT USE ZipThemer from the market as it doesn't have the proper edify database needed for your recovery!

I hope this helps and welcome to the wonderful world of CyanogenMod!

Yeah what he said lol. Does joniedys new recovery use edify? Basically what i'm asking is can I use zipthemer with his new recovery?

Haha no sorry to mislead i'm just talking about the last one he released. Not really new anymore.

haha sorry about that! i was just trying to figure out if i can use zipthemer with his last recovery?

nevermind what i said...i should have been more up on what recovery i was using lol. Forgive me but im just emerging from noobness into knowing whats going on. I was directed to the "getitnowmarketing" recovery by somene else on this forum who asked if i was using joniedy's OLD recovery so i assumed that he was directing me to Joniedy's NEW recovery but i obviously wasnt paying attention...sorry for the confusion :/ But now that its settled lol...I am trying to get into themeing and i was wondering if i could use zipthemer with the GetitnowMarketing recovery?

again sorry for the confusion.

Yup...zipthemer is very versitile with amon -RA recoveries. However it gets tricky when using edify as zipthemer must have the correct database installed in order to properly add the correct updater script and signature. Also making an undo zip with said app is pointless if the database is incorrect

For best results on a professional or personal level...I recommended metamorph and or ninjamorph from the market for a more in-depth experience and the freedom to work from your phone.
