[KERNEL] Siyah v2.1-DarkKnight Beta1 | CheckROM

  • Samsung sources Update3
  • Auto-Rooting
  • Complete DK Engine
  • On stock Ondemandx@ 100:1000Mhz
  • Boot animation support
  • Custom boot logo and startup sound (thanks to hellcat)
  • Supports SetCPU (OC upto 1600MHz, UC downto 100MHz)
  • Supports undervolting (UV between 800 mV and 1500 mV)
  • Supports voltage control via SetCPU (thanks to netarchy, ninpo, hacre)
  • Stock voltages as default
  • smartassV2 governor
  • Tweaked interactive governor
  • Tweaked on-demand governor
  • Compiler optimizations (DK style)
  • user customizable charging speed (use at your own risk). you have to echo AC, MISC and USB charge currents to a misc device.
  • Touchscreen fix (thanks to vitalij)
  • Increased touchscreen sensitivity
  • Increased battery polling interval
  • GPU clock and voltage control interface (thanks to netarchy).
  • I/O Tweaks
  • automatic battery calibration. (removed. thanks to Entropy512. we do not need battery calibration for SGS2)
  • Available I/O schedulers: noop, deadline, CFQ, V(R), SIO (default)
  • Available CPU governors: ondemand (default), interactive, smartassV2(recommended), conservative, userspace, performance, powersave
  • /system/etc/init.d startup scripts support
  • Automatic backup of efs partition. You will have the files in your sdcard as well as /data/.siyah directory. copy them to a safe location in case you may need them later.
  • Updated jhash to version 3
  • Increased charging speed.
  • BLN (thanks to creams), liblights is autoinstalled if the existing one doesn't support BLN
  • supports advanced touch tune driver. thanks to vitalij Link. the control app from Web, from Mobile. Thanks to tegrak for the driver patch file download
  • CIFS, SLQB, NTFS
  • Time to break some records... both performance-wise and battery-wise...
  • Overclocking part is optimized and bus frequency selection is modified.
  • User customization frequency levels. you still have 8 steps, but you will be able to customize them. wanna change 100 to 150 as 100MHz is not stable on your device? wanna change 1400 to 1304 and 1600 to 1504? or increase 1600 to 1696?
  • User customization bus frequency selection. no more overheating. if you are a battery freak, just set it to minimum and your device will last more than ever.

Installed.
No issues so far.
First Siyah kernel I've tried that doesn;t cause screen lag. Hooray!!!
Let's wait and see how battery does.......

Thanks for the heads up, going to flash this now.
I feel like a kid in a candy shop at the moment. So many good things to try.

my fingers and phone are glowing with the action they've seen today.

need to calm down and let the dust settle now!!!

This doesn't appear to be the official Siyah 2.1 release... or is it?

Seems to be a collab between the Checkrom guys and the Siyah guys.

"So Me and Gokahamoral (Siyah Kernel Dev) Decided to build a entirely new platform for Battery Saving's
This is a Kernel with Crazy Feature! And with Out of the ordinary performance. "

Cheers Rudedawg!

Oh well... in for a penny, in for a pound! :D

Time to get our feet wet :D

That's OK Rudedawg, if it goes tits up... I'm blaming you!

Trick or treaters will be the least of your problems! :D

UPDATE

Initial impression...

I'm using the smartassv2 governor (as I have on previous Siyah releases) and find the scrolling in the App Drawer very jerky. I wasn't getting this with Siyah rc2 or 3.

now that is bizarre ironass. i got the same jerky app drawer scrolling you are describing on siyah rc2 (and all prev versions) but not with this one.

btw, when you say you are using smartass governor - how do you "use it", can you direct me where to go to find out about this (couldn't find it on xda)

As you say... bizarre!

Here you go old boy... everything you ever wanted to know about governors and what each one does...

[REF] Quasar kernel governors and I/O schedulers manual - xda-developers

With "smartassv2" I do not use SetCPU's Profiles, overclock or undervolt.

Hope it helps. :D

Ha . Christ , anyone would think I created the thread in the first place :eek:

I can't share your experience with the jerky app drawer. It's silky smooth for me with a little cheeky bounce when it comes to rest. I appreciate not every set up is gonna be the same.

So far so good. I admit once I installed CR 2.0 I was tempted to leave the Hellkat kernal on but I'm a sucka for new sparkly things to flash.
Now just to wait for the updated Kitchenapp.

right, so if i'm understanding xda page right, smartass will automatically work in the background and set cpu frequencies without me having to dabble with setcpu etc?????

That's about the size of it. :)

Just in case I was imagining things, I reverted back to Siyah 2.1rc3 and, for me, it is a lot smoother and faster than this kernel.

Ah-Ha!

On the Checksum Revolution ROM site at xda they are recommending NOT using SetCPU with this kernel...

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM][XXKI4][2.3.5] CheckROM RevolutionHD V2.0.0 |Super Optimized|DK Kernel is live!

Time for a re-flash.

UPDATE

Well, freezing SetCPU with Titanium Backup and reinstalled DK Siyah kernel.

Certainly a lot smoother than before. No lag in the App Drawer scrolling now.

Also, the benchmarks are better than they were and exceed the Siyah 2.1rc3 above (although benchmarks do not tell the whole story).

Guess it's down to battery life now.

Damn can't click the link on my phone. I'll check in a bit. Because that's a big f up in my books.

Ok now I see , but what is "Plane DK" ? or does he mean PLAIN dk as in as it comes.?

I'm using the smartassv2 governor (as I have on previous Siyah releases) and find the scrolling in the App Drawer very jerky. I wasn't getting this with Siyah rc2 or 3.

thought it was ok for me. certainly less obvious side jerk than prev versions. but on further using over this pm am certainly getting a lot of stutter.

back to hellcat and realised how much stutter was actually getting on this, for me hellcat much much smoother!!

really disappointed

Since I disabled SetCPU the stutter is very obvious. Terrible infact. Tried the Antutu overclock and its only slightly noticable. SetCPU disabled it completely. Not impressed.

It seems fine for me. Nice and smooth without any lag using SavagedZen governor. Also loving the backup and restore from external sd feature.

I dont understand these governors... I mean in principal I understand what they do but ive no idea how to implement one. :S

When using set cpu or voltage control etc there will be a list of available governors. You just choose one of these and then your phone does the rest.

Heres where Im at then . If i use SetCPU I get a silky smooth performance. If I freeze it the app drawer lags like crazy. Yet im adivised not to use it. Gaaaahhhhh

I've just tried freezing voltage control to see if it made a difference to me and it did seem a bit jumpier. So I'll continue using voltage control I think, I never was any good at doing what I was told. I'd day if you find it better with set cpu, use set cpu.

I left a message on the CR forums. See what the big man has to say. But yes for now ill stick with it unfrozen.
