Root The various Sense ROMs

Still browsing around for that 'perfect' custom ROM that I can settle with.
There seems to be some categories of Sense roms, from Sense 1.0 up to 3.5 and I'm wondering if there are fundamental differences between them? All of them seem to be actively updated by the dev's, so I don't imagine it is a 'new-ness' factor. What makes a rom fit into each of the categories?

HTC Sense - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ultimately its just tweaks and fancier use of graphics. The desire seemed to come with 2.0 so that's your base point. If you go lower, you end up with a sense from the original hero.

I'm on 2.5 I think with Insertcoins Rom. It's pretty similar to stock but just a few tweaks like weather looks fancier (maybe its 3.0 weather)

I thought the desire came with 2 and dhd 2.1 but apparently not. Desire came with 1.0. Actually if I think back, I can't see any difference between my fiances hero and my desire.

Both running aosp now though

It's weird as all my searching told me what I was told was right even though I thought it wasn't. On xda all the sense Roms for desire start at 1.0

Desire was something like 1.9 on its last update (the Gb one?) as I think HTC couldn't squeeze all the later stuff in. Of course, the xda poeple could :p

Beware of the later versions of Sense - they can be battery and cpu hogs.

If you want a stock Rom with a2sd+, try sgbs. I'm on it now and prefer it to Insertcoin or other hybrid ones.

I'm now using titanium to see what apps I can loose by freezing them first.

Hi Matt,

What is sgbs? never seen it.
Even I am trying to find a ROM to my liking... though I do not want extraordinary but should be for A2SD+ (that was all the point of my rooting plans:D)

I tried Teppics Gingerbread Sense rom and thought it was pretty decent. Had apps2sd+ capabilities and very stable and was just like pulling the phone out of the box again.

Leedroid's is a good sense 2.1 rom and if you want you can have some sense 3 stuff to (it's an add-on)

[ROM] LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3-Port-R5 |11th August| Ginger Sense 2.1 | FAST | STABLE | WWE - xda-developers

i'm currently using PyramidMod007 which is a sense 3 rom, it runs pretty nice, you can easily get a day out of the battery with medium-heavy use

[ROM] PyramidMod007 (Sense3 | GB2.3.3 | Stable | A2SD+) [STOCK | CM7] [v11 | 10/10] - xda-developers

I cannot flash this rom, its keep on rebooting.
I'm using Desire with stock Hboot 6.93.1002

What phone have you got? Your name is bravo s, which is suspiciously named after a different phone

For what it's worth I recommend RCMix S Evolutionary Sense. Been on it for months, really stable and up to speed.

I have tried other Sense Roms but always come back!

I'm using RCMIXS v2.0 CM7 version. It is working very well. Definitely recommend. Initially I was using the Bravo version and internal memory was at 30MB after 67 apps installation. With CM7, I now have 185MB of internal memory after the same number of apps installation.

I have a question that is sort of related. I don't have a HTC Desire, I have a Evo 4G. I'm a bit new to the whole rooting and custom roms thing...and I have noticed that most custom stock roms, at least for the Evo 4g, are based on sense 1.0..why is that? The Evo comes with sense 2.1, so why do devs choose to use sense 1.0 for their custom roms? The examples I've seen are: SNS v1.9, SwaggedOutStock, TommyTomatoe's EvoClassic, and many more out there. Thanks in advance.

In which case, are you doing a factory reset before flashing? Are all the requirements met in the thread and are you downloading the Rom for the correct hboot (stock, cm7 etc)

If they had compiled for the Desire, we could have squeezed it in. Truth is that we dont have any Sense 2+ rom compiled for Desire. They're all ports, and hence fail, one way or the other
