Help Were is the new updates from Bell Canada ??

Hi I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 model number GT-I9100M on BELL in Canada. Im running android 2.3.3 and I need to get the new 2.3.5 to fix some issues however it is not available via Kies. Now I know it has been leaked but I can not find a version for the north america model! My phone is rooted and i can use odin but can someone find me a firmware to flash on my NORTH AMERICA phone please? If i flash a firmware for another country will it still work on bell? Im very skeptical about flashing a firmware from another country because i still need to be able to connect to bell... and if i do flash a firmware how do i set it up so i can still connect to bell?

im pretty sure you can find it on xda forums and it will work. i am from bell, in Canada and it works after flashing.

Hum, I'v called Bell last week to know when they expected the update to switch from .3 to at least .4 and 2 persons backtoback had no freaking Idea what I was talking about and refer me to Samsung apps for update. I explained that it must come from Bell but they had no further info to give me on that... pathetic.

what are the risks to trying this update? im on bell also, and no updates, if i have issues can i wipe back to 2.3.3? are there any side effects of 2.3.5 with bell so far that anyone has seen?

sweet applied the update, all the bell bloatware went bye bye. No issues so far, will test battery life over the next few days.

I am still on 2.3.3 and I check Kies all the time and still no update ? Does Bell Canada even know there is an update out there. How stable and easy is it to update using other programs ?

Hi, well I called them a week ago, talk to 1 person, used live chat support with another. Both had no idea what I was talking about and they both refer me to "Samsung Apps" application for update which does not provide frimewire update. I'm in same situation, still on .3 waiting..

BTW, there is a "solution" if you want to root your phone (which I will never do for now). Check in page 1 or 2 of this board you will find it.

I may be wrong but I dont think there will be an official 2.3.5 update from Bell. I believe the ICS will be the next official update.

I would not expect any updates from bell, their track record for updates is terrible.

I tried the 2.3.5 KI3. After flashing it; mine SSID kept resetting to "AndroidAP" in Portable WIFI hotspot. And once you upgraded to a firmware that aren't for your region or country; you will no longer able to upgrade your firmware tho Samsung Keis anymore. It will say your phone can't be upgraded or this isn't an official release firmware. I have to flash my phone back to Bell firmware to fix it. And it take me a while to find it. Those new 2.3.5 firmware are leak beta firmware, there going to have bugs.

Before you do it, just remember once you flash it, you will no longer able to update your phone firmware tho Keis again..... Well, unless you flash it back to Bell firmware again.

If you still wanted to try then you can go here to get the latest (XWKI8)...

I tried to update threw Odin and it did not work. I guess I will just have to wait. I talked to Bell and they said I had to go threw Samsung

Via odin, took like 5 mins, im now on 2.3.5 on with bell, and have no issues, in fact one of my gripes with the phone is resolved. I can now change the volumn of music without logging into the phone.

Also i can now connect to kies to sync music, i could not before.

And finally, it removed the bell bloatware, which was a great bonus.

imprez me
how can tell that letter code is work with Bell's?
XX---> Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom
UG---> North America
or i can flash any version i want?

Thanks!

You can flash any region firmware you liked. You just won't able to do it tho Kies after it, that all. You will stuck using Odin. When and if Bell come out with an official 2.3.5 firmware, you won't able to get it though Kies until you flash it back to stock Bell firmware.

If Bell releases any updates it will soon be posted as a flashable zip file in the same manner as these other roms. I just doubt Bell would release an update so don't bother waiting and go follow Blue1k's excellent rooting and unlocking guide and get 2.3.5 now.
