crash bandicoot saving?

OK, if this game was on a disk it would already be smashed into the smallest pieces visible to the naked eye.
I am tired of playing this --'/$+#-$- BOULDERS level on this *%$&-*& game. How do you ever save your progress? No matter how far I get,after I die, or quit and save progress...the stupid game starts me on that BS BOULDERS level. What am I doing wrong? Or do you have to make it 100 levels farther before you can actually save it where you left off? Sid I say I'm tired of that stupid BOULDERS level?

You get an option to save if you complete the bonus levels I believe. If you hit the menu button on the bottom left of the controller pad, you can save the game when you hit quit there and pick up where you left off.

there may be other ways but i'm thinking that i save and the end of the bonus levels.

Yah, you get booted to your last save point when you lose all your lives I believe. Like the others said: bonus levels.
