Razr vs Galaxy Nexus for me?

Im getting my first smartphone soon, and i have yet to really decide between these two phones (I would include the rezound but ya know, sense sucks.), im leaning toward the razr (thats why its in the razr thread) but it could go either way (even as i type this theres a galaxy nexus ad at the top of the page, and a razr ad on the left) , so i got some questions, and some opinions of both the phones so you guys can help me decide what to do, first of all, this is all verizon, just so you know.

Bootloader
Locked v.s. Unlocked, does it really matter, if i don't like moto's version of 4.0, wouldn't there be some workaround so i could throw some cyanogenmod on there? or will i be completely locked out?

Design
In the design department, the Razr dominates in my opinion, its build like an Abrams, compared to that the plastic and non gorilla glass nexus looks like a jeep.

Intresting-Ocity (The, "holy crap what is that?!?!?" effect)
From what i can tell, people that dont really understand phones see it this way:
iPhone: cream of the crop, if you've got one of these, your probably cool
Android Phones: you didn't have enough money to get an iPhone
The Exception: DROID, when they see those robotic themed commercials, followed by the slogan "DROID DOES" they seem to be impressed and it ends up being an actual competitor to the iPhone. (even though its just a motorola android phone)
So if somebody where to ask me what my phone was, and i said "Galaxy Nexus", they'd probably say "Why didn't you get an iPhone?" but if i said droid razer thay might be a little more interested. especially since its so thin, and the back is made of "the same thing thats in bulletproof vests" as i would say it.

Power
This is kind of a hard section because they are practically the same. (ive heard the OMAP 4460 in the nexus is better for overclocking and it has a better GPU, but i can hardly see them being and difference in real world speed tests.)

Storage
this ones tough also, idk if the razr supports 32GB cards (maybe somebody knows) but the 24GB total vs the 32GB possible of the nexus, its hard to decide because one comes with 8gb internal and 16gb external out of the box where the nexus has 16gb and the 32gb costs more and its all internal.

Battery
This one can't be decided yet, but i dont see the nexus getting better or maybe even the same because not only is the battery slightly smaller, the internals are slightly more powerful and probably more power hungry, and i don't really have a problem with the non removable battery.

Connections
This is basically NFC vs HDMI, and i see myself using HDMI more, although i don't know how mainstream NFC will be 2 years down the road...

Screen
This is a big one, from what ive heard the nexus has it. (Unintended pun!!!!!!!) but i mean i heard the screen is better, bigger or not.

Buttons
This is a big one, i don't like where android is going with the no buttons idea, it almost seems like a workaround for a device without buttons, i prefer the razr's capacitive buttons, especially because 4.0 will work with them.

OS
another big one, the nexus will obviously come with stock ICS (although i don't expect it without VZW bloatware) and will get updates quicker, while on the other hand, the razr wont get it till early 2012 and it will be skinned...but isnt that what makes it a DROID?

Camera
Unless im missing something, the Razr is superior.

Lasting Appeal
I also want this phone to be a good multimedia device after the contract runs out, like an ipod touch, and it seems like the nexus is better for this because of the better screen and stock ICS...
Also, the other part of lasting appeal is the fact that the nexus releases like an iphone, whereas the droid is upgraded every couple months, i know id be pissed if i was a bionic owner and someone dangled a razr in front of my face...

So what do you think? should i get the razr day one or wait and check out the Nexus? or should i just get the nexus, should i completely disregard the razr as a DROID X3 and ignore it? ive also heard the droid 4 may come in December, should i wait for that?

A few comments:

No clue if the nexus camera is better or worse; but hte galaxy s2 camera is (significantly) better than the razr based off of current review images.

The display on the GN is an unknown; we've already been told it is a reverting to a pentile design. It has a few more pixels than the razr but beyond that it is not clear (to me) if it will be better or not.

Size - particularly width - is a personal thing. I woudl have purchased the sprint epic touch if it had not been for the (currently) unfixed LOS issue. However, playing with it the width was a tad wider than I would prefer and from specs the galaxy nexus is a bit wider. I'm less sensitive to length.
-
reception - cannot comment on the razr or nexus yet; but the photon blew away the epic touch in fringe area. To me reception is very important and if one is signficiantly better than the other it will influence my decision.
-
sound quality - it matters to me. From the reviews the razr seems like a real winner; GN is an unknown. Again the photon was a little better than the epic touch (to me not enough to make a real difference; but someone who listened to a lot of music would definitely prefer the photon - esp in the high tones and bass.
-
Anyways I'm not trying to imply the razr is better than the GN in the above areas; but they are unknowns would make a big difference in my decision as to which phone I would purchase.
-
boot loader being locked and non-removable batteries are negatives (for me) but not deal breakers.

Your best bet is to back track, and look through the countless threads pitting these 2 against each other...And then hit you tube for some Videos...

Without real hands on, its all just a crap shoot.

I just want somebody to answer his question about being able to install Cyanogenmod on it. This will be my first smartphone also, and while I like the way it looks right now, I might decide to install a custom Rom one day or try my hand at theming, and from what I understand, you can't do that with a locked bootloader.

There are lots of ROMs/themes (including C7) for the DX (the original locked bootloader phone). The way it works is that the ROMs have to be based on an OEM kernel. Other than that, it's pretty much free game. Where you run into limitations is new OS versions. For example, don't expect there to be an OEM version of ICS on the DX. So, the DX won't get a ICS-based ROM.

That's my understanding anyway.

deciding between the same two. currently have an Inc w/ extended battery
played with/handled the Razr yesterday. Looks and feels great. Didn't focus on button feel, like some have, so I can't comment. Worry about battery power, but I tend to plug the phone into the computer I'm working at during the day and plug it in while in the car, so that's already habit. My son has the Bionic and likes it.
Some potential advantages of Nexus, I think. ICS right away, NFC, big screen, higher resolution (316 pixels/inch--iphone is 330).
It looks quite thin, too. can't wait to touch it and read initial reviews.
funny, I remember paying Cingular $500 for a Razr on day 1--was I cool!

I will say the Nexus does look and sound good, and we will not know final specs until its released. The razr has a better rear camera and is thinner some specs seem better but the galaxy has a lot of stuff in there. I have heard the galaxy series feels cheap. I got the razr coming tomorrow so we will see. 14 days to try it out.

My thought is that why would the galaxy nexus not mimic the s2 with exact same stuff. But the thinness is where the razor wins. But if you need a expanded battery you cannot tall on the razor. Got some more time with the razor until I hope they announce the nexus to make a final dexision

The Droid Razr supports 32gb SDHC, and 64gb sdxc

Camera? These are Android phones... expect mediocre

Lasting appeal? The Razr lasted like 5 years on design alone.
