Help Fully bricked Galaxy S2

Crossword

Newbie
The impossible has happened, and i managed to hard brick my S2 (Wont turn on, at all, only thing it does is gets a bit hot when the batteries in or when chargers plugged in).

The phone itself is under warranty but of course since its been rooted thats voided, so my question is. Has anyone even managed to send in a rooted, hard bricked phone and still managed to get it covered under warranty?

My second option if Samsung doesn't fix it under warranty is to use the JTAG Brick service ($50) from Mobiletechvideos. (I cant link but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about?)

I'm happy to send it off but has anyone had any experience with these guys? it looks legit but would rather be 100% safe after my very expensive bricking.

Thanks in advance

I've heard of screwed phones being replaced after the flash counter has been reset. But if it's bricked you obviously can't do that so I'm not sure you'd get away with it. I can't be the only one here who's wondering but how exactly did you brick it. I've been close a few times but it's always been salvageable

I was flashing my phone to stock and on my computer I had the S2 and S1 stock firmware files. (Had S1 because I flashed my friends to stock last week). Selected the S1 file instead and before I realized, it was too late.

So yea, it was 100% my fault :P
I would be pissed off (at myself) but knowing that its fixable through Jtag makes what happened a bit easier to deal with haha, I dont mind spending $$ to get it fixed seeing as Im the one to blame.

lol I was expecting someone to ask anyway :P

Well it doesnt turn on so I can't access download mode. It literally does nothing more than heats up when I plug the charger in haha. The only thing I havnt tried yet is the USB jig, but from what i've read, that will do nothing.

Im kinda past the trying to fix it stage and have accepted the fact that ill have to spend an amount of cash on it.

Try doing a soft reset possibly followed by a hard reset.
Details are in the tips n tricks thread

I can't do anything, the phones off and I cant turn it on, cant get into download mode, nothing.
It's completely f**ked in other words haha.
When it first happened i tried alot of those tricks but without luck.

my phone turned off and didnt turn back on again...only thing worked was odin so i flashed a kernal with odin, got the phone running, started with download mod and put new cenogenmod in it!

the jig worked for my g1

good luck

Sorry to ask another obvious question, but did you remember to remove the battery for a minute or 2 before inserting the jig?

Brought the phone in today, played dumb and they sent it off. ill hear back in a couple of weeks and will post here what the outcome is.

Thanks for the help/advice guys

Just rang vodafone then, phones ready to get picked up, they had no idea about the bricking and blamed it on a faulty motherboard.

I'm happy, thanks again guys for the help :)
