Root Rooting.. and how the heck to do it

I've gone through endless amounts of pages, message boards, YouTube videos etc trying to figure out how to root my Arc on 2.3.3 but I still have no idea.. what to do, each time I think I understand it something else comes up
What I was hoping for was maybe someone could show me the easiest/quickest way to root my phone

i agree with you. i have a lot of time researching on this as well and there is really no real easy way, so i decided not to do it.

i remember back in version 2.1 with my xperia x10, there was one app to do that. you just ran it and it's done. unfortunately, that app has not been updated to handle version 2.3

oh well.

Settings > Applications -tick Unknown Sources
Settings > Applications > Development - tick USB debugging.

Download ADB drivers from here if not installed.

Connect phone and install those drivers when asked.

Download zergRush, run RUNME.bat to root phone, if you're on Vista/7 right click and run as administrator.

This works on latest firmware, so you can update to latest firmware before rooting.

is this the latest and easiest solution to root? has anyone tried it and works seamlessly?
i have XP, am i correct i can also right click and run as administrator or it's different using XP?

Yes this is the latest way, very easy to do.
With XP you don't need to run as admin, just run the file as normal

Enable USB debugging and connect your phone, Windows will likely not find the driver so in the pop up or through Device Manager select the adb drivers.
