Root Which Rom is best to run???

As of now since we have all these diff. roms to run such as cm7 and ctmod froyo & ctmod GB just to name some...and big ups to those guys who put those together...but which one would be the best to run as far as performance and other tweaks....just was curious about it and wanted some opinions of others who have ran all of these roms.....

Once again big ups and thanks to all of the devs who bring us these mods and its greatly appreciated.....

As someone who has used every ROM released for the Prevail. I would say it's a matter of taste. Every single ROM performs better than stock. Shabbymod still holds a special place with me, since it was my daily driver for many moons. In my opinion if I had to rate them it's off the fact that you can change so much once you switch to any ROM. Essentially any Froyo ROM > Stock Froyo. At the moment since CTMod stands alone with GB, CTMod 2.0 > Stock GB.

Ironically all this testing has definitely made me a better android/smartphone user. My suggestion, if you like it, try it.

Update:187MoD-GB is out, based off CTMod 2.0.

I myself have also tried all the roms. I can tell you that their all great mods. There is no 'best' one. Basically you have to pick the rom that best suits you.

ShabbyMod = Great Mod with lots of loyal followers. It's currently based on Froyo but that doesn't mean it's still not a bad ass wicked mod. (I used this one for a long time!)

CTMOD = this is VERY simplistic mod. A lot of apps were removed and things were finely tuned. This addon is superb! I'm currently running this right now and it's wicked fast. Be warned! This mod isn't for you if you like to have some apps already installed. If you install this you'll have to install some stock apps yourself.

187MoD-GB = This is a great mod as well. It's a newcomer to the crowd but don't let that fool you. It's been tweaked and optimized to performance. It has some similarities with CTMOD but it's still has it's own flavor of tweaks and tools. Give this a go if you don't want to use CTMOD. I highly recommend it.

CyanogenMod 7.1.0: The mother of all android mods. What can I say about this monster? This is one if not the most popular mod for the android period. It's used on several different phones and by thousands of people. It's sleak, fast, and best of all works on gingerbread. It's still in beta as it was recently ported over to the Samsung Prevail. Note: It works almost flawlessly when I used it. There are some tiny bugs but if you can deal with it for now this an ultimate mod to use on your phone. Hoark and the crew are constantly updating it and working on bug fixes.

Please be aware that this is my opinion and doesn't reflect everyone else s opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.

You REALLY should read: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-pre...ide-galaxy-prevail-all-things-root-0-2-a.html

I also have used many all of the roms mentioned. But I like the Bloodawn's ctmod 2.0 for gingerbread. Here's why. It gives an excellent, highly optimized foundation to build off of. I think the zeam launcher is great with this. And I like that if I need a particular type of app, I make the decision about what to use.

With all of the development in the last two weeks, I would stick to Main Threads.

This guide is not up-to-date.

it is not up-to-date BECAUSE of all the development in the last two weeks

as a general rule of thumb i try not to direct noobs to use all the latest (and untested) bug filled piece of software that gets posted here

:p i'm glad you already cleared that up for me

i'll play around with the new batch if/when i get around to it and then post my 2 cents, until then anyone who wants to make suggestions of which one is better and why, THAT IS why i made the guide

feel free to post any feedback that is on your mind (in the thread) :)

Thank you for your response...

But if someone is looking for information about roms, like in this thread, in my opinion, and this is just my opinion, it is better to direct them to the main threads. Because that is where people are discussing the particular rom itself in real-time. Kind of like a rolling review, as the information is constantly updated. In addition, they have a chance to ask questions, look at screenshots for some roms, and maybe get interested enough to participate in the development themselves. After all, isn't that one of the things we are trying to promote in the All Things Root section?
