Do you regret buying the Droid Razr?

The people complaining and commenting about heat don't own it :)

Dang CK, I've followed you on several forums for a long time but now you're just starting to sound like the iFanboys I have to deal with on MR :p

People have issues with phones, it happens. Doesn't mean that everyone who has a complaint doesn't have the phone. Now certain posting patterns and behaviors from some people may sound trollish, but it's easy to pick those people out.

And I don't get the hate on sean76. They guy has discriminating tastes and is on a quest to find his perfect phone. I'm sure when he finds it we can expect posts filled with unicorns and rainbows :D

any of you get a case for your Razr or is it naked? IF I get a Rarz, one of the things that I think I'll like about it is that I don't feel that it needs a case.

I bought the silicone case for mine and it doesn't add much bulk but protects the Razr better. Mine is in and out of my pocket all day and takes a good beating so I need some sort of protection.

Picked it up on day one, and have been really enjoying it. The thinness, the lightness, the speed, the beautiful screen - fantastic. Wish Skype would have worked right out of the box, but I'm sure an update will be coming soon.

One of the things I really like about the phone is of you choose to put a case on, you can without making it a brick. I loved the original Verizon case with kickstand for my DX, but it made it too big for comfy pocket carry. Still feeling out battery life--with a much bigger battery and on just 3G, it should last like or longer than my DX did, right?

Its a true statement. I don't make these things up. Look at the comments from actual owners and then read the assumptions from the person that doesn't own it.

It is what it is. Owners are not complaining about EXCESSIVE heat. Look it up.

Ok, got my Razr yesterday and spent a few hours playing with it. My initial impressions:

- This thing is FAST, I mean it's ridiculous how fast this thing moves! Everything is so smooth and fluid that I wonder how I ever put up with previous android experiences
- The screen is nice, but the pixelation is noticeable. The funny thing is that I like the screen because of this little quirk. Makes the phone that more cool in my eyes, especially since looking at images and the like look fantastic. I also have not had the "blotchiness" issues some have complained about - the screen looks flawless on my device. I also haven't experience the heat issues some have mentioned. In fact, during extended usage last night (tango, apps, general use with screen on), the screen was not hot at all
- Smart Actions is one of the greatest apps ever, haha!

More to come..

Did all my research before buying the RAZR. Thought over the pros and cons of owning it. I have zero regrets. Amateurs have regrets when buying tech :)

Very happy. I don't care what comes out tomorrow or next week. I'm very pleased with the RAZR. Most unique handset on the market and probably will be for some time unless somebody can build something just as thin.

+1

I knew exactly what I was buying, and love the RAZR.

I got an email back from Handtec, and they are treating my Handset as faulty, as after testing the battery inside, it's capacity was a measly 950mah.

I thought it was pixellation too but then realized it was the plastic screen protector thingy that was making the display look kind of rainbowy/warpy/pixellated.
(are those even words?)

I took the plastic thing off too but it's still noticeable; however, like I said, it isn't bad by any means. I still think the display is quite nice.

Random question, is there a plastic cover/protector thing on the back of the Razr?

yes. it covers the Kevlar. Remove it :)

Yes, some ppl said the Kevlar was too easy to scratch cuz they thought the plastic was the Kevlar, me included...lol

Ouch! The original Razr battery was better than that! How'd they figure it out? Did they crack it open?

Thanks for all the help you guys!:). I think I'm going to head over to the VZW store and pick up a Droid Razr. I have really gotten fed up with the Nexus and the lack of info. I feel like the Razr has something that a phone can't lose. The way it's built. The Razr will be upgraded to ICS, I can wait a couple of months.;)
Thanks again:):D:cool:
So Excited:);):D

I tried my friends droid razr it was amazing completely fast great quality loved the built in apps the screen is great and the unremovable battery isnt a problem I never remove it.I'm waiting for the unlocked version to come out if not I'm getting the htc xe

I preordered Razr and received on the 10th - can I exchange within my 14 days for Rezound and wait until the Nexus comes out utilizing the Jan 9 return policy?

The grain is there, just like all other pentile displays. Droid 3 is less noticeable since 4"display, but same resolution. Still, pentile is not as bad as some say, but the Razr does look rougher next to the Rezound, if compared side by side.

Added:

Droid Life compares them both in their review and shows the grain. Still, unless you are reading a lot of text in smaller fonts, it is not bad.

Just to add to my initial response in this thread & after having used the phone for a couple of days now..

- The fluid UI experience of Android on this phone is simply amazing. I can't say enough just how responsive, snappy and downright quick this phone is - whether I'm swiping through screens, going through menus, opening apps, there is absolutely zero lag on this phone. I can confidently say that the Razr is just as fast OS wise as the iPhone, which is an incredible statement to make!

- Smart Actions is hands down one of the best features on this phone. I've set up a few profiles and can get about a day out of the phone (typically off charger by 7am) before needing to charge. This is with moderate usage (sending texts, web surfing, downloads, extended periods of screen being on). While the app can be improved, being able to nest profiles is one hell of an advantage!

- The screen is awesome. Yes, it's grainy but only in limited cases (mainly looking at small text; pics/vids look incredible!). I wasn't sure how much of a difference a 4.3" screen would make with regards to real estate, but man, there is NO way I can go back to a smaller screen now. I also find it even more puzzling how iPhone users can get by with a 3.5" screen. That being said, having this device gives me pause to think that the 4.65" screen on the Nexus may be a tad too big. Cannot say enough good things about Gorilla glass.. my OG Droid had it and after a number of drops (including more than a few that were screen-first) it was still flawless and scratch/crack free.

- Motorola's UI is surprisingly good! Personally, I like some of the widgets and apps they've put on this phone. More importantly, this skin is pretty intuitive to use. The black contrast and black on white menu setup is a very nice touch and really adds to the phone's personality.

- The camera on the Razr has worked flawlessly in the few paces that I've put it through. It absolutely shines outdoors and the auto-focus works as advertised (quick and fast) enabling you to take pics rather quickly. The only area where the camera suffers is in low light situations, but let's be real, there isn't a phone on the market that excels in this area, the iPhone included. That being said, for those moments where I'd need to take a pic on my phone (and granted, I'm unlike most folks as I don't take pics very often with my phone, I take more videos), this camera will suffice. It really shines when taking video though and the 1080p capture is awesome. The front-facing camera is really nice too. Made a few video calls using Tango and the quality was superb on both wifi and 4G.

- I honestly don't know how they fit all the tech that they did in this phone because the form factor is simply phenomenal. I LOVE the way the phone feels in the hand and it is deceivingly light! Yet, for it's minimal weight, it doesn't feel like it would fall/slip or otherwise end up in a precarious position. The power button isn't as flimsy as some people have mentioned, in fact it feels pretty sturdy given my usage so far. Same for the side door that houses the SIM and microSD slots.

- The battery is what I expected it to be, but surprisingly better than what I've heard from other folks who have 4G phones. The only draw back is when I'm in an area where 4G coverage isn't as strong (like this morning, in the corner of a high-rise building on a high floor) where the battery just sips away (although losing half my charge from 6:30am today to 12:30pm isn't terrible). Aside from that, I can easily get a day out of the phone without worrying about charging it, but having the charger handy is a necessity.

All in all, I am very, very impressed with this phone. It isn't every day that a phone, especially one as hyped up as the Razr, works as advertised right out of the box. I'll be honest, after hearing all of the horror stories of folks on here who had gotten their phones on 11/11, I was concerned that I had made a mistake. I couldn't have been more wrong! This phone has delivered the goods for my expectations and then some! I was really happy with my OG Droid when I picked it up and I am just blown away by how well put together the Razr is. Kudos to Motorola on a job well done!

I picked up the phone earlier this morning. It's a great phone overall, but damn... this thing really does get hot. Streamed some music for about 30 minutes, and it was hot to the touch. Not QUITE uncomfortable, but pretty close.

Disappointing :(

Every single phone I have had, Android, WM, Symbian used to get warm when it was required to use both CPU and data at the same time. Nothing new here.

Depending on how hardware is conigured they would heat up in different areas.

must be handset to handset heat issues....watched about 45 minuted of a movie on netflix last night and it barely got warmer than when the movie started.
This thing is a really, really good smartphone....that is all I can say.
