Root ICS Source Available

Android 4.0.1, the same version of Ice Cream Sandwich the Galaxy Nexus is running is now available for download.

Source

I already tweeted Slayher and asked if he plans on developing CM9. If and when he responds I will update this post.

Happy day for all Android lovers :D

I doubt that, follow twistedumbrellas thread over on rootz he will likely be the first to release a stable version for the bolt

What happened to the "Once source drops it will only be 3 months minimum to get ICS running!"?

Also, there goes running MIUI

I am sure it will, but like most other 3rd party UI it will take a little longer, I would think we will see MIUI ICS much sooner than Sense ICS. I am also sure there will be people who will stick with MIUI over using CM9 or another ICS rom.

My point being i love the MIUI look and options. No need time run MIUI once ICS is on my bolt

Vicious already has phone and data working on MIUI ICS. I don't think Slayher will be supporting CM9, though. Just a gut feeling :(

So how long do y'all realistically think it will take for someone to get ICS fully functioning on the tbolt?

I think DV is working on it for MIUI currently trying to get MMS working but other than that I think it should be out tonight.

As for AOSP Twisted is still working on it but hasn't given any sort of estimate as it is more involved than anything he has done before

I don't know how source affects what he's done so far. It may speed him up,or it may make him need to start over

It could be anywhere from a couple days to a couple months.

From the rootz thread it looks like he has to start over but some of the work may not need to be redone.

:eek::D w00t cant wait

I believe vicious had parental responsibilities call him so he has not been able to finish the MIUI work yet. It still looks like if you like MIUI you may be getting ICS before AOSP

i dont want an iphone jack rom i want android ics! lol i think miui is terrible should of just got an iphone if u download that

Who is incharge of CM9 development for thunderbolt? Is there a twitter feed I could follow or something?

I thought the same thing until I tried it. Yes, the stock launcher does not have an app drawer, and yes, the settings menu structure is similar. That is pretty much it. MIUI is all about the theming capabilities for the casual user. The T-mobile theme chooser is pretty limited by comparison. In fact, I think it really demonstrates just how boring and limited iOS is...and how much more Android can be. I know some people have issue with the closed nature of the development, but it is really not much different than something like sense.

My phone certainly does not look nor feel like it is running iOS.

No back on topic: does anyone have a good link to a rundown of the changes from gingerbread/honeycomb to ICS? I would just like a list to check and to test the authenticity of ICS ports.
