Was informed of another system update this morning - two days in-a-row so hope this doesn't happen every day now - now at 4.08.605.2.

So far the phone seems fine but I have not really had it away from a charger so I have no idea how the battery life is

Right after you select recovery, press volume up to get the list of recovery options. I don't know why they had to add that stupid step, it confuses people.

Yeah am doing that not sure what the issue is file is on SD card called update. (just one .zip)

Enter hboot, then select recovery, it goes straight to white htc screen, then to the green update symbol then straight the phone with red triangle. I hold volume up but never get a option of what to select.

Ah well it worked fine when updating to gingerbread 4.06

This is the case for most people. 4.08.605.2 should be the final GB update for this phone, so you're done.

Man, that is odd. So just to be sure, while in hboot you're highlighting recovery, then single press the power button to select it. Then when the triangle comes up, you single press the volume up button (try not holding it). If yes to all that, I'm not sure wtf is going on, almost like you have a bad recovery.

One other thing, you're on 4.06.605.3 right? Not 4.06.605.2, cause that wouldn't work.

Yeah I get into hboot, it takes a sec then in loads 2 or 3 pmb or pmg files something like that. I then can scroll to select recovery, hit the power button to select it goes to white htc screen, then the green update logo, then straight to red triangle. ( I treid golding or just tapping volume up)

No clue what the issue is.

Always hate to pull the battery in these situations for sure. That's a long time though, I'd give it awhile longer and hope. If not, you may have no choice at some point.

edit: looks like you have new info anyway.

I am trying to update and can't get to hboot. I shut down then hit power and hold the volume down. I tried a few times.

The update worked for me. i don't believe it. After the last one borked up my phone, I was hesitant to do this one

The GF's phone had an update yesterday morning (she never got original GB), and I wouldn't let her do it. Maybe it's okay after all . . . :D

Goto Menu > Settings and applications and uncheck "Fastboot". Then power down and try again. If fastboot is checked, you can't get into hboot because it's not in a truly powered down situation.

Please excuse the redundancy, but I got the update last night (I'm one of the people who received the original failed OTA). It half loaded and said I was out of space. I deleted even more apps and loaded/used the app cache cleaner. I have checked in, and tried setting the date both backward and forward. So, I am guessing I just have to wait for another magical visit from the update fairy at some unknown, time, correct? CORRECTION: Just as I am typing this, the update shows up, I say yes, it counts down and then nothing-just returns to normal state. Currently showing: 2.3.4 Build 4.06.605.3 CL140944. Can some one please clear up my confusion. This really is a ridiculous way to manage phone software....

I have no clue, it was just the biggest running app aside from FB so I deleted it. I guess I need to look into where it's installed...thanks. OTOH I did DL the app cache cleaner too...maybe it will help.

But I hardly have any apps installed is the thing, I have DL maybe like 6 apps total....so....how the heck do I not have enough space? I keep my emails cleaned out and delete my texts and call history regularly b/c I am one of the people with 'low space' problem anyhow....

I got the second update around 2am it installed with no problems.I have about 54 apps mostly on my phone but had no low memory problem. I did have to reinstall some apps that were on my as card when the upgrade came in

yeah on on .3

Running out of ideas. Only things I can think of is that the card isn't being mounted/read at the time or the update.zip is not on the root of the sd card. Also make sure the file size makes sense, I think it was around 8 MB or so?

I guess you could try reloading the .3 update also, then try again with the final. All 3 updates are linked in this thread earlier. Advanced search this thread using my name as the poster and "server" as the keyword.

Hi Guys - new to these forums so bear with me here.
I have the HTC Incredible and had updated to the XXX605.2 a few months back. Then on Monday I get XXX605.3 and thought okay - everything is cool now. So why this morning did I get an update wanting me to roll back to XXX605.2 and I had no space to do it in.

Now my Pandora app is screwed. Don't know if the two are related but that's the biggest issue - kinda important issue as I use Pandora at work for my customers.. any suggestions?

Do i need to post MORE information to help address the issue?

Thanks...

Joe

Yeah just wait and see if the final update gets repushed for you.

Yeah it doesnt make sense while not an advanced user I has played around with this stuff enough so not sure what is going on. Figures LOL, as mentioned this is the most frustrating part of Android, updates are just a disaster. With everyone getting there dirty hands on it.

Absolutely. Yeah I can tell you know the drill on the recovery thing so I'm not sure what's up. I wish they would release a full RUU, then this multiple patch BS wouldn't be an issue. A single file on the card or run the RUU program from the PC and you'd be done with the FULL update one time. I don't like this patch > patch > patch method. It's hard on people.

I just got off the phone with Verizon Support. The Verizon support rep contacted HTC support which allowed me to explain the problem.

The HTC support technician stated that my only recourse was to factory reset the phone. Apparently, there is an issue with the memory management on the Incredible which can cause the low memory issues. I don't see why this can't be fixed in software.

I'll hold off for a while to see if someone else figures out how to get this update to install. If there is no workaround, I guess I'll have to peruse the backup threads to find the best program for backing up my programs and data (game progress).

I got ANOTHER system update this morning. Said I didn't have enough space and that I should delete some crap and try again later. *sigh*

Same thing happened to my phone.

Received Gingerbread yesterday morning, everything went fine. Update successful.

All but a few icons worked fine. Made new shortcuts and was very happy.

Late last night received another notification for update. Proceeded as instructed. Received the same message about insufficient space.
