Help Bionic not charging VIA USB

Was there a recent update to this? My phone is set to USB, charge only. Screen off, screen on it doesn't matter it doesn't charge anymore VIA the USB plugged directly into my tower @ work. This just started happening maybe a week or two ago. Nothing has changed on my computer and searching I am not finding anything. The crazy thing is that I am not the only in the office with the exact same problem. Am I missing something?
 
Are you using the cable that came with your Bionic? If not, try it. (Maybe womeone swapped it?)

If it is still not working, try a different USB port on your desktop. Manny sources suggest using a USB port on the back of your machine.

It charges slow ... I always use the standalone charger anc cable that came with my Bionic.

Same cord from my OG droid that worked like I said two weeks ago.

IT is plugged into the back of the machine.

And again, it isn't charging. Its not slow, it quite simply maintains a level at exactly where you plug it in at whether the screen is on or off. all day long.
 
Could be your windows drivers. Reinstall the windows drivers to ensure that it is detecting your phone. Try to set it to USB Mass Storage to see if windows can detect it. If it doesn't I would point at your drivers being the culprit.
 
Try a different cord - even if it worked before, it may not be working now. Doubtful, since you're not the only one...

Check your drivers....If it is a work computer, also check with your IT dept to make sure they did not install some sort of new USB connection software to block USB connections to devices not 'authorized'
 
Wall is faster, and cord that came with Bionic is fastest. Some of my old Moto and Amazon cords don't work.
 
I was having a problem where my battery was draining within probably 4 hours. When plugged into my usb port to charge, apparently it was charging with enough juice to power the phone so it didn't seem like it was even charging. I did a factory reset as much as I hated to, and now it charges nearly as fast as a wall charge.

It is also recommended that you "condition" any battery. Let it go to 0% then using the wall charger charge to 100%. Repeat this at least three times.

One person in this forum said he the does the 0%/100% once each week.

While a factory reset may make it *seem* like it is charging faster, it's not.

The USB on computers are regulated to provide only 500 mA of power. the wall chargers provide up to 850 mA. My car charger provides up to 1000 mA.

I think the phone cannot make use of more than 850, but not 100% sure of that - but, at any rate, it makes sense that if your phone is draining the battery quickly, then plugging it into a USB port on your computer may make it not charge at all, in fact, may only slow down the discharge.

Again, for battery issues, one of the things everyone needs to do is watch the BIONIC Battery Life videos stickied at the top of the forum. Seriously. You really need to watch them -even if you think you might know all of what he says, there's a good chance that one tiny thing in there he says still surprises you.

As Tom also said, you need to condition the battery - particularly if you perform a factory reset after having used it for a while, or if you go out and buy a new / replacement battery.
 
I agree with johngalt. A computers usb port does not have the output of a regular wall charger. Your best bet if you need to charge your phone at work is to either get a second wall charger or just use the usb but keep in mind that it will charge very, very slowly.

Also for the car since I like to use the GPS on the phone and run pandora at the same time I noticed that a regular car charger was not cutting it. I did get a car charger from Amazon for dirt cheap and it has one 1A output and a second 2.1A output. It charges the phone very fast!
