Root RSDLite 5.6 released

It is the software that runs on a PC that allows the FXZ file to flash the ROM in the Bionic back to factory distribution.

This process is being tested by John Galt tonight and he will be reporting back when he has finished.

This is a possible recovery technique if you nail your Bionic (aka brick) or want to remove traces that it has been modified prior to returning to Verizon.

The flash file being used was provided by Motorola a few days after the Bionic went on sale.

What will be interesting is to see if there are any "bread crumbs" left after it is done that indicates it was done.

The newer version should still work with the older devices.

Sweet..i hope you are right! if i was to install the new one would it like override my 4.8?

That is a troublesome question. The question you might want to ask first is ... since the Droid X was upgraded to Gingerbread (2.3.3) how do I flash to "factory 2.3.3"?

You should check out ... http://androidforums.com/droid-x-all-things-root/372029-tutorial-simple-gingerbread-602-sbf-root-process-updated-9-9-11-a.html ... for more information.

My GUESS is that you can use 5.6 with the flash file they reference and if not you can use 5.4.4 with the flash file they reference.

You do want to base your Droid X on Gingerbread don't you?

The Droid X is my test device. I am running OTA Gingerbread on it rooted the same method used for the Bionic. I plan to flash it using 5.6 but haven't tried it yet.
